Doctors tend to not receive censure for just giving their opinions. The fact that I received a second opinion
from a licensed mental-health professional with appropriate training reinforces the medical doctrine that G.P.s are merely front-line diagnosticians, and that only specialists can make a valid diagnosis. My current G.P. seems to actually
care about what I tell her.
