People pushing you to communicate while you can't

My boyfriend does this.

"Just come out and say it." Or: "Tell me how you're feeling." Or demanding an in-depth critical analysis of a topic that he's only just raised in the conversation and which I haven't had any time to go and research, think about and percolate on. Or pestering me for answers about what I think might or might not happen, to him, to us, or in the world generally.

I don't do feelings-talk, I don't like giving speculation as if it were fact about subjects where I know little or nothing, and I don't like being made to give these psychic insight type answers.

In such circumstances I just shut down. If he (or whoever is talking) gets impatient or angry, at that point they will have just metaphorically poured glue into my verbal generation circuits.

They demand nonsense, essentially... so give them nonsense in return.

"Fish" works. It really does. The world is a better place when they're more confused than you are.
