am i the only one who...
I never referred to myself in the third person as far as I know. I never had any language-related delays - if anything, I ws extremely precocious, reading, writing and speaking 2 languages by the age of 3.5 - 4...
I did however always ask permission to go the the bathroom, until I was about 4 when my mother finally said, "You DON'T have to ask me, you know!" After that, I remember needing to go, and starting to ask her, then remembering that I wasn't to ask anymore, and stop midsentence.
Eventually I got used to going to pee withouht asking permission first.
Sedaka,
I don't know what languages you speak besides English and Japanese. As I recall,
English, German, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Spanish, and French And OTHERS DO have the same idea of pronouns.
Hindi and Arabic are among those were there are TWO verbs for some pronouns, like I and you, for example! I and you must ALSO take into account the SEX of the one performing the action, etc... WIERD!
BTW What languages do you and medusa speak?
Still, I DO remember others here speaking about this problem, and some have HERE, and I remember reading this as a possible autistic or asperger symptom. Hopefully, blackcat has seen enough to realize she is far from alone. It IS an odd symptom, and I don't understand it, but it is yet ANOTHER thing I will not quickly pass judgement on.
I guess the only way to know anyone is to spend time with them. And blackcat.... If it makes you feel any better, people have often made big mistakes about ME also.
