I tried for ages to set up an Aspergers social group. Some of the other aspies I met whilst doing that I really couldn't get on with. One in particularly I couldn't stand to meet ever again, because he was just too different to me. We just argued about everything.

The problem is, having Aspergers determines that your brain functions differently to the majority of people. This doesn't determine personality or interests. So if you meet someone else with Aspergers and they have a different personality and completely different interests, you're probably not going to get on well with them.

The best type of people for aspies to socialise with are NTs that are understanding and patient. That's what they are like where I work.

All things considered though, I think it's best for people to socialise based on interest, regardless of whether there's anything different about their brain.
