My family tells me that I grind my teeth in my sleep sometimes though I would have never known it myself. But I do get some tired feeling around the jaws, which probably is the indication of what I'm doing in my sleep. Also, after studying/working very hard for hours, I sometimes find myself clenching my teeth very hard.

I think both grinding and clenching come from enduring a lot of stress. So, probably you need to release the stress and relax to stop grinding and clenching.

I often clench my teeth during the day. Not sure about when I'm asleep.

Yes although I end up destroying my retainers.

I do this as well....or at least I used to.

I never knew I would grind or clinch my teeth at when asleep until I was sleeping with my ex-girlfriend a few years ago. She would wake me up because I was grinding so loudly. I have no clue how long this was going on before she made note of it. I'm not sure if I do it any more because I have no one to tell me if I am doing so. But I don't think it is as bad as it used to be when I was younger.

Something that might help, just a little bit....taking a magnesium and/or zinc supplement. Simply put, magnesium should help muscles relax and relieve tension, lessening the amount of clinching & grinding.

Yeah, I am a clencher. It's gotten to the point where I am destroying my teeth.

Often. Its gotten better, but if I am having a stressful period in my life (like now, finacial-family issues at First of Year) it can get bad. In fact my jaw muscles are extremely overdeveloped but I have a hard time opening them. At times, dentists have given me jaw guards to help with this..

Sincerely,
Matthew

I used to clench my teeth a lot as a kid when stressed/annoyed/angry.

Now, it only happens in my sleep when I am very stressed, I will also sweat then too and generally sleep bad.
