I thought my autistic symptoms were the early warning signs of schizophrenia but the early intervention psychologist reminded me that since I have had these symptoms all my life including late language development it was just the autism.

It is curious how many of the symptoms overlap.

Well, they are both genetically related to each other.
My half-brother was schizophrenic, my other brother had clearly ADHD as a child (mainly outgrown) and I'm autistic.

I would say the OP has to go to a shrink and talk to him/her about it, to be sure.

Both of those things are potential signs. Children with AS can have really vivid imaginations, to the extreme that they almost live in a fantasy world. Do you know if you initiated the friendship you had as a child?

We lived nextdoor to each other since we were babies so not really

I have always had a very very very vivid imagination, I even do today but I don't want to discuss it because it's a bit embarassing

These links describe the sub-types. Maybe you could ask your parents/someone who knew you as a child whether you fitted any of these types.
