It probably depends.

The issue is right now the diagnostic criteria are a mess, Versions 4 and 5.

It's why an official diagnosis is needed - but the issue is that at least 50% of the offical diagnosers don't know much about it themselves.

In the end, everyone has some traits, but it doesn't mean they have it.

Ah, but in Aspies, stimming is a sign of a disorder. In NT's, twirling keys is a sign of nervousness or boredom.

One gets narrow special interests in Warhammer 40K, one is a devoted follower of fantasy football.

I could go on.....

The common disorders of apedom.

I would say a third have some degree of Autism. The problem is, the DSM is used to declare Disability Grade Autism, and for that they have to go far afield. Must have three of the list of twelve behaviors to the point of wierdness.

To declare someone a Witch suitable for burning, they must have some of the known witch traits and collectables. Pointed hat, black cat, broom, live alone, own property. Any interest in reading, owning books, saying knowledge is important, confirms their guilt.

Now a middle third of the population is just ordinary, plain, the herd center, and will follow the cow in front of them. This is the type Lawyers select for juries. For some reason Bland has become the Standard Human. There may be something wrong with them, but they are too bland to tell. Anything that looks and acts like everything else, is smart and blends into the background, or lost and afraid to ask directions.

Their main social function is they are easy to put to work, and tax.

The other third is a problem, Anti-Aspies, those who through Business, Religion, and Politics manipulate the herd, rather than do useful work, and while their behavior does seem Psychopathic, uncaring for the Rights of others, they are Members of Congress, The Bar, Chamber of Commerence, and the Professions of Prostitution and Psychology.

The main problem is, NT does grade to not disabled, but to dangerous, and the traits of a Psychopath are admired in Business and Social Leadership.

As these are the people defining the DSM, we get what we get, where just the sight of us gets a lifetime mark on records, and a High Functioning NT would get a Political Donation.

Some good has come of supporting those who cannot get it together, but it is backwwards, at least for Aspie Grade, the idea is remedial towards the other end of culture, get out more, talk to strangers, quit reading books.

Logic says, I just gave away what end I support, people should be developed as what they are, and the current views of Psychology seem to say, three hundred pound truck drivers should work toward becoming ninety pound Ballarinas, and visa versa.

In the real world, where lies do not work, what we have is one person sits spinning the wheel of a toy car for hours, or playing video games, and at the other end an educated, Degreed person who has passed the bar exam, is well connected in politics, who is considered a rising star, like Ted Bundy.

Rising to the top is simple, give other people what they want in life, Religion is a great excuse, Laws are clearly defined so they can be evaded, the illusion of power temps many, and those who do it the best, are like Bernie Madoff, who offered returns above the market, and for some, returns many times their investment. and without this pesky downturn, would still be the most respected man on Wall Street.

When the town bank is closed, the banker lead away in hand cuffs, there will surely be news about the bad behavior known to law enforcment going on in the trailer court, involving seventeen year old girls.

The great and stable center of humanity which everything depends on says, "Moo".

Even the center produces rebels, look at the total conformity of bikers.

I for one am glad to be on the Autism end of human foolishness. It produces some potential greatness, and a lot less death sentences, 150 year prison terms, and it is not mired in the swamp of boredom and nothingness.

The rest seem to miss the oneness of the magic of life, in a mystic Universe, more for me. I have learned more from contemplating reality, than from becoming involved in it's illusions.

Autistic traits are indeed common in all people. We just have more of them.

This irks me.

Why has my life been totally derailed by my traits, and the world seems like it was built for another type of brain, if EVERYONE has autism? I never get this.

Surely, there is a typical brain type, that most people have, and an autistic brain type, that a percentage of people have a bit or have a lot? Surely?

I need things to be clear. Someone please explain. :(

Hear, hear!

I agree. Wish I didn't have severe OCD, but otherwise I agree. I would rather be intelligent, sensitive, creative and perceptive than not. However, that's where environment comes in. I have never really found the right environment (yet), so it is harder to revel in the beauty of sensitivity and so on.

It all depends where you're at; can make life hell or heaven.
