autism/AS and dilated pupils
Well, I just looked at 2 peoples eyes. They both had pupils about the size of mine in about the same light. Even daniel jackson on SG-1 now when he is with the unas has pupils that look about the same as mine now, even though, at first glance, mine might look more like the unas pupils!
BTW I HAVE identified with Gizmo on gremlins in many ways. One phrase he said that I identifeid with was "BRIGHT LIGHTS!! !! !"!
Kimj,
Your eyes looked ENTIRELY black? then how do you know you have any other color in your eyes? I mean do they give you some drops to REMOVE the dilation?
BTW In case you are curious, this is what my right eye looked like at 5, blown up a few times. REMEMBER, it may be misleading, due to the odd coloring. Ironically, it DOES look like the pupil takes up over half the iris:
Ironically, the best picture I have of my face right now is at 5. 8-(

The light sensitivity thing makes sense. Bright light bothers me too. I have to wear sunglasses, or tinted eyesight glasses, in strong sunlight, or I can't see much of anything. But I'm not sure if that's due to the pupils alone - I seem to be just as light sensitive even when they are smaller.
My pupils aren't real huge, definitely not the way they'd be when one gets those pupil dilating drops at the doctor's. But they do tend to be larger than normal most of the time. They're not always the same size, either; they change, whether due to the lighting or my moods or a combination of the two. Sometimes they'll be quite big; then in a while I'll look in the mirror and the lighting will be about the same, but they will have contracted to nearly normal, maybe just a bit bigger than that. I may not be aware of any noticeable fluctuations in my inner state as well. So I have no idea what causes this.
In every photo I get red eyes - more than anyone else. Even if I don't look at the camera. They're so red that they literally catch everyone's eye whilst looking at the picture. Does anyone else here get gleaming red eyes in pictures?
I'm not sensitive to light. My eyes are perfectly normal. It's my ears are too sensitive - not my eyes. In fact - my eyes seem to hurt more in the dark then in the light. I don't think I could live in one of those countries where it goes dark for six months then light for six months. I'd probably hibernate through the dark months of the year, then make the most of it in the light months of the year. Am I the only Aspie who's not bothered by light?
i dont know if they're diliated but my pupils are apparently quite big. I'm pretty short sighted so have to have the back of my eyes checked with a torch thing when i have an eye test. The last time I went there was some young new guy and he was trying to tell me i needed some special drops that make my pupils dilate (and mean i have to avoid sunlight for a while?!) but I told him I'd been getting my eyes checked every year since forever and had never had the drops or had them suggested. Then he looked at my eyes and (finally) agreed that i didnt need it because i have "quite large pupils".
and im very sensitive to light which some of you mentioned...
