A person peers in a telescope. They invented a telescope that can see forever, to the ends of existence and being. On close inspection this person saw ... the back of their own head.

I look at a leaf glistening the sun ...

I see cells in the leaf, and in the cells I see atoms, and each atom is a solar system. Maybe I have this wrong, each atom might be a galaxy (it is more about your zoom capacity than anything else). Within the solar system within the leaf lies a world. Within the world lies a sea and earth, where a tree grows. The tree has leaves and I look at the leaves. I focus on one leaf and think that there are cells in that leaf ....

My last two posts outlined some of the connections in my mind that others might find unusual. Here is another...

I am of the view that humans are agents of entropy, meaning that we exist (alongside the rest of the universe) to dissipate energy until such time as it is evenly distributed. We consume more concentrated forms of energy. Most of the concentrated energy in our solar system is derived from the sun. Whether we farm crops, have herds of animals, hunt, gather, drive around in fuel consuming SUVs or jet around in aeroplanes, we are consumptive. The remains of our activities are mush less concentrated energy in waste and emissions. In all things, where we strive to concentrate energy, it is a passing concentration that in itself is geared to a much greater dissipation of concentrated energy. This is what 'entropy' is fundamentally about. That is a somewhat simplistic description but I am sure the more complicated version is not wanted. What we define as 'progress' or 'success' is that state of existence with the maximum amount of entropy (or energy consumption and dissipation). We measure this through instruments called currency or money. The more money we have the more effective we have been in dissipating energy. Even plants are doing this although they haven't quite got to the point of monetizing their activities. Plants take solar energy, turn it into chemical energy and then pass it onto the rest of us to dissipate further.

Its all a most beautiful string of connected dots. Its a string of dots that I would call 'entropyneurial' as a spinning wheel of dots interrelated with the notion of being 'entrepreneurial'. The are very much the yin and yang of our dance with the universe.

Nothing can disrupt this state of affairs either. Even a more altruistic 'save the planet' perspective is really just an awareness that we our 'entropyneurial' activity needs to proceed at a comfortable pace such that we undermine life on our planet i.e less entropy today will ensure greater entropy over time in the future.

I have this need to find patterns a lot and it even can get into an obsession, especially when I want to solve something I'm scared of.
