Yep, I sometimes eat so much that I have trouble breathing and almost pass out. Now, I just let my mom make me food and only eat what she gives me.

Speed of eating doesn't matter for me - nor does the knowledge that the amount I am eating "should" make me full. The lack of feeling full combined with the sensory need of the crunch, soft or combo of textures is what drives me to eat as well.

The combination of the lack of feeling full and sensory needs is a total dangerous combo. I have eaten myself ill more times than I can count... and will STILL have the urge to eat if the sensory need has not been met completely.

I never feel hunger either though.

What helps? My poor son is obese. I think it is a combo of low impulse control, sensory needs, and inability to feel full.

I don't think my daughter feels hunger. But she does fine with time/visual cues to eat. If it is "time" she eats even though I don't think she feels hungry. The only time she says she "feels hungry" is if she noticed that "time" to eat has passed.

Yep. I have that problem too. Nothing helps. I almost wish I would develop anorexia. (Notice the "almost". Trading one problem for another is pointless.) I do have a severe digestive illness that was helping me maintain my weight, but it's in remission now and I'm packing on the pounds.

I'm not sure what to do. If someone would invent calorie-free food...I could stim w/o harm. An oral stim toy wouldn't give me the stimulation I need.

(Slightly old thread)

It takes me some time to start feeling full after eating. I'm sure that's the case with other people, too. Eating slowly seems to help me stop eating before I feel too full as my stomach has more time to recognize the fullness. The problem is that eating very fast makes food taste better.

No, I can tell when I'm full. I eat slowly and I find that helps a lot. I used to get stomachaches as a kid, but they're very rare now.

I think the most I ever ate was a full rack of BBQ ribs, sides, and a birthday dessert. I felt fine. I've always loved eating. Thank goodness for high metabolism...

Don't ask me. I haven't eaten for the past 3 days. I just don't get hungry anymore!

i kind of have the opposite problem, i cant tell whether im hungry or not, i just dont realise untill i start to feel ill in other ways such as dizzy shaky and cold, then i finally realise maybe i need food. the only reason i eat enough is because i know i have 3 meals a day.

having said that i do feel hungry once i taste food, i suddenlty realise how hungry i am.

That happens to me too, except that I don't feel ill from not eating. I mentioned it once and somebody suggested I must be "preoccupied." Possibly it's hyperfocus. I've also skipped breakfast since I was a teenager, so I guess I'm very used to functioning on an empty stomach and screening out any hunger pangs.

I often eat too much when I do eat, especially "empty calorie" food, but I always know when I'm full, I just find it difficult to stop eating.
