I'm enjoying my adulthood a lot better than I've ever enjoyed my childhood. I wouldn't want to be a child again. I wouldn't want the Gender Cop (my mum) telling me what to do and what not to do. the reason that I enjoy adulthood better is because I get to live my life the way that I wish on my own terms, without people dictating to me how I must do things. I feel free to live as the gender I prefer.

Sorry but I wouldn't consider a 15year old even close to being an adult - mid 20's when the brain has finished developing IMO

Life has seemed pretty static to me. My personal private lifestyle interest, routines hobbies etc really haven't changed that much since childhood. Or so it seems.

You should split it three ways.

Childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

Most NTs seem to be moderately happy in all three.

Aspies happiest during childhood, and sometime adulthood, but never during adolesence.

ADHD'ers are adolescent oriented, and hate childhood, and adulthood.

Very true analysis.

Adulthood, hands down. Why? Self-determination within the limits of what is financially and socially/societally possible. And while that leaves a lot to be desired, it is far freer than what the dictates of a familial micro-unit allow for.

Being adult is better because I can drink legally as much as I want to and I get my own place.

If you consider adolescence to be the teen years, I was FAR happier then than I was during my childhood. I had a terrible, terrible childhood.

This is a difficult one. Since I was 15/16 I started thinking a lot about my childhood and how sometimes I wished I could be back there again due to having less responsibilities and pressure from society (eg exams, finding jobs, etc). But if I think carefully my childhood wasn't perfect either as I had less privileges than I do as an adult. Also I had far more problems arising from my AS as a child (which has gotten much better now as I've been adapting). Overall I'd say I'm about the same in terms of happiness now from when I was a child, but in different ways.

I enjoyed both my childhood and adulthood. My adolescence was arduous, however.

Can't really say I enjoy/enjoyed either one, but being an adult isn't as bad in some ways....at least now I am not forced to go to school every day to be around people that would prefer I wasn't around. Except for the ones that might have been disappointed not to be able to pick on me anymore.
And now I know of more ways to allieviate symptoms and/or have more freedom to leave situations that start effecting be badly...which I didn't exactly have as a child. I did briefly enjoy life quite a bit when I was 20, but that went to sh*t just as quick as it started so that didn't really get me anywhere.

Your post really resonates with me, those 2 things in bold have made adulthood alot better for me, add that since I turned 15-18 the doctors can't mess around with useless and sometimes harmful treatments without my consent and actually listen to me sometimes if I can hold it together long enough in the office! that was half of my childhood issues aswell as school(both teachers and kids).

Definitely the 1st one. My childhood was pretty sad :(.

My adulthood isn´t ideal at all, but certainly better than childhood.

The worst were my late teens, though.

Well it's hard to say. Things are more or less flat for me right now, I'm just kind of existing. I don't have as many outside stressors anymore but I don't have much of anything else either. I wouldn't say my childhood was rough but there were some rough edges but the thing is I was none the wiser of it at the time. The future scares me, I miss not having responsibilities and anxieties. I miss certain friends and family members that I have lost. The good times I have now involve me killing myself in some fashion so are they really good times? I hope one day I can be truly happy.

I would say mine is a mixture of both I have been diagnosed when i was like 3 or 4 so my childhood I was going though some stuff and I like the shows the music and TV shows and school and the activities i did and I did also like the same way as I got into my adult years but I am more aware more on situations and both situations there are some days that are hard and there are situations that are bad like friends and other situations
