This is me as well (not paying attention to my stimming behavior, until after I learned about Aspergers).
My favorite example…I always enjoyed chewing on the caps of pens. Particularly, when I was thinking, reading or writing. I liked chewing on the cap of a new pen until the cap was totally deformed and broke apart.
I remember ~ 9 months ago, I had a set of new pens (that I kept in a coffee mug, which I used as a pen holder). Then, two weeks later, I went to grab for a new pen to chew on. But, all of my pen caps were totally deformed. I thought – when did I do that?
