That's true... it is a big challenge and it could be very easy to get sidetracked or for people to not have the same vision. I would love to hear everyone's ideas.

Are you going to be starting this business?
Do you have an idear about what product or service you could create and sell?

I have a lot of different ideas of ways we could do things but I don't know if they are vialbe yet... just brainstorming right now.
But I am thinking about the Aspie community too.... I am envisioning getting people together like me who don't have jobs... we find someone to donate different things like land and funds and we make a self sufficient community with everything people need and some different manufacturing businesses. But there may be problems with my thinking.. it will require a lot of research... I am thinking of contacting other people who might have done similar things to see what they have come up with.
I think video games or programming might be good but those aren't my specialties so we would need someone else to spear head that.
I am a sculptor myself. It would be cool to make a business where we could mold and sell sculpts.. mine or others.
Maybe we could do something like this with computer animation too?
The good thing about a computer business is that we could do it from different locations though.
I'm a Business owner myself, born Entrepreneur. I'm 26. I have ADD, my Brother has Aspergers which is why I'm here. I seen your post and wanted to toss in my advice.
For sure, you would probably need to have some non Aspie people on your team to make up for your weaknesses. They wouldn't need to play a significant roll, just the small stuff like the book keeping, and little things like that. Matter of fact, can probably keep the company 100% Aspies and just pay for Book keeping Services etc.. Same way you'd hire a Plumber or something.. Just hire a book keeper to do your books once a month or something
Also, what I would recommend, any & all you guys that are interested in something like that. List all your interests & strengths.
I know my Brother is really into Movies, Upcoming Movies, Loves watching Trailers, Books, and Politics..
And since you all are probably pretty far away from each other, I'd recommend it be an online thing.
And also perhaps a Free online business, like maybe a website for Movie Reviews or something
You guys with Aspergers, I think you guys can Hyper Focus and do incredible things when it is something you are really interested in, and really passionate about.
So figure what all your "Super Powers" are..
Also, very important. You, the one that has the idea to begin with. You may need to just do this all on your own, at least start it on your own. Something I know about business, it is NOT FOR EVERYONE! Matter of fact, the ratio is probably like for every 5,000 people 1 Person will love business, and naturally find his way to becoming a business owner.
I have tried turning my friends into business partners, it's a waste of time..
Being a Business owner, being business minded.. it's a gift you are born with. Being Entrepreneurial minded it's self is a super power.
And the chances of random people reading your post having that same awesome super power is a super long shot.
It's natural to want to have a business partner when you want to start a business.
I don't know why, but it just is. You automatically think about teaming up with people to start a business. It's just part of it..
But bring yourself beyond that thought, and just bring yourself to do it.
To start a business is Hilariously inexpensive.
California is like the most expensive place in the USA. And it's only $50 to get a business license, everything else is free.
For online stuff, hilariously cheap. Godaddy you can buy a website name for example AspieBusiness dot com or whatever you want for like $5 per year. And then you can pay for a website builder, Godaddy has one for $5 a month. For $50 Plus $10 a month you can start your business!
To find all the steps you need, here are some helpful sources:
SBA (Small Business Administration) google it
SBDC (Small Business Development Center)
S.C.O.R.E
SBDC & SBA are like the same thing almost. You can use all 3 of these sources online. I know SBDC has actual facilities all through the USA, and SBA. So you can walk in and get the same services etc.. Maybe Score too..
Anyway what it is.. You walk in, or communicate with them online and you tell them your idea, or your ideas.. They will even help you pick one of your ideas.. And they will literally tell you all the steps you need to take to start your business like Get the business license etc.. Literally step by step. Like go to this address (in your city) pay this amount, pick your business name, and go to this place etc..
Then once you have all that in place, they will even help you with everything else like business plan, business strategy, graphics, social media, just anything & everything.
They have all kinds of Professionals there for Free! Pro's such as Lawyers, accountants, Website Developers, Social Media Experts, Business Coaches everything!
Our Awesome Government pays them to help you. Because if you generate money, you help our Country Financially. Perhaps one day you will hire employees etc.. So our Awesome Country feels its well worth it to pay a bunch of Pro's to help anyone that wants to start a business in the USA.
You can even go there, or go online & say exactly what you just said, and they will pretty much motivate you and together, they will be like the best business partner you could have ever imagined.
Go to the websites & just email someone.. And get it started.. Business is so fun! I love it!
I get to be home all day with my Family.. Doing what I LOVE!
Good luck man, let me know if you have any questions.
And if any of you can be helpful to this question I asked for my Brother who has Aspergers, please reply to the Thread I made. Thanks!
LovemyBrother, thanks so much for the incredible post, it's so funny you just posted to me because I just left a comment in your thread about your brother.
My problem for the kind of business I want to run is that I need money to get going... I am a sculptor and I need money for materials and molding etc... and with sculpting it takes time to develop. If I try to work a another job while I sculpt it takes too much out of me because of my aspergers so I don't get anything done sculpting.
I don't know what kind of business I could run myself online other than sculpting.. but I do have something that I wanted to write a book about or make a blog... so a lot of info there would be great for me to start a blog. I might be able to get donations for a project I want to do.
I am an aspiring inventor and I always have ideas for inventions but they require a lot of money too. It's that old saying - it takes money to make money I think.
What kind of businesses do you do?
I think it is a great idea.
I am all in favor of people forming groups to help themselves and/or others.
People sort themselves into groups naturally anyway. If you really think and observe people's social migration habits, for instance look around a cafeteria at work, or at the mall.
People sort themselves by gender, age, skin color, fashion sense, hobby or interest, pay scale, it never ends, the different types of sorting people do. If you try to integrate everyone by force to one location, they will still sort themselves in some type of way, given the slightest chance.
So I see nothing wrong in forming guilds groups or affiliations since it seems to be human nature.
So what's wrong with an "Aspie guild" to meet, have fellowship with, or help oneself and/or others on the spectrum? Nothing at all in my opinion.
Having it as a hiring policy at a place of business might depend on the type of business and also the location. Some state laws might forbid it, or if it is a government workplace it could be illegal to have any sort of hiring preference other than skill set.
Hey there, my businesses are all selling products. I Love buying & selling things..
So you work for an Employer, and you're a Scupltur? Or that is your passion?
Blogs are super easy, can be done for free even..
Go to like Blogspot dot com and just create an account in minutes for Free
Youtube and do Vlogs..
If you want your own domain name, then go to godaddy & get the domain name & they have a Blog service, it's like $5 a month.
So you can start your business with 5 bucks! Just do it man, Do it tonight even.. Worse case scenario, you wasted 5 bucks..
That saying "it takes money to make money" was probably started by someone that never started a business..
All Business Owners, and Entrepreneurs we shake our heads at that saying, it's the advice from someone that has no experience, therefor has no insight in the subject..
It's like a Women saying "It sure is tough being a guy.." How would they know?
Maybe you can teach people how to sculp? There's no Money in books by the way, don't even think about that one..
And to make a book/publish it's like 10 grand or something.. Unless the book idea you have is soooooo Awesome that you can't put it down, then consider something else..
You really only need a business license when you're making serious dough.. Why don't you start without one first.. Blogs & Vlogs, you probably wouldn't need a business license regardless, even if you were ranking in a grip of money
Maybe you can have a website that can like Showcase Scuptlures work and people can comment on the photos of the sculptures, and even make offers to buy them. But mostly just a place where fans of Scupltures like yourself can go to everyday & see what cool new photos are up, and see what comments people wrote for the scupltures they posted on the site. When I eat, I always go to my computer & try to be entertained while I eat.. I'm sure a lot of people do that.. So Scupltures, can go to your site while they eat a sandwich.. It'd have to be new stuff all the time you know.. Something to keep them wanting to see.. Just like this forum, you log on to see if anyone replied to your posts.. see what new posts there are etc..
You can start your own chat forum like this on on Lefora, it's free.

This is the key though to my thinking... I think the way people do things now is all wrong because employers are focused on the wrong attributes. I think if we create the right kind of company the aspie traits will benefit us.
So the skillset we would be looking for is the Aspie skillsets or autism spectrum skillsets.
But in order to make this kind of business I may need someone else to take the initiative of what kind of business we run if it's online. I don't have experience in making games or computer programs but I could do art related to these things.. and I am great coming up with inventive ideas.
I have a lot of ideas for inventions that we could all possibly work on developing but we would need someone who knows the law to work out how to do non disclosure agreements.. but this is probably true of any kind of business we would work together on. We would probably need some kind of contract.
I do think your idea is a great one. But I thought you also wanted to know if it could happen everywhere. So I just included some things to look out for.
You can certainly found an Aspie-oriented company, start an Aspie-oriented business and/or hire people who seem to be Aspie; I'm just not sure that in all geographies and all businesses you could advertise it as such.
But there is more than one way to make something happen.
Can also make a website that has like Aspergers news.. Like anyone with Aspergers doing great things.. LIke I know this kid in UK won like two Nobel Prizes or something.. Things like that.. or if someone with Aspergers does something news worthy..
And you can find these stories to post on your site by having all these people with Aspergers on Wrong Planet helping you by submitting things they find to you via email..
So like everyone chip in an hour a day or something, whatever they can, when they can, and search online for Aspergers news, and people acheiving things, Interesting people with Aspergers.. etc..
One cool story, they made a Docuemtnary about a kid with Aspergers called "Billy the Kid" So cool! It's my Favorite Documentary. I thinks it's on Netflix, I bought it!
Stuff like that.. Can post a picture of the DVD, and write a little bit about it. You seem to be really articulate, can write a little story.
I know the story on that one,
This Casting Director was at a High School in Maine, and interviewing kids at lunch & asking them all kinds of Questions. And she said, whos that kid sitting by himself.. They said that's Billy, she goes to interview him. And because of how interesting he is to talk to, and all the interesting things he says.. She found their Conversation very entertaining. And on a whim, just decided to stay there for 2 weeks, and hired a Camera man & sound guy to follow this kid for 2 weeks, she's never made a documentary before, she just "couldn't put it down." That Documentary won so many Awards, went to Sundance Film Festival, won a ton of awards, Billy was on the Red Carpet, everyone wanted pictures with him. And it Aired on HBO, which is how I found it. And eventually bought it.
Stuff like that!
I have just been working on it off and on on my own.. but I live with my mom.. I am a lot like your bro! lol But I live in a sh***y neighborhood that's why I don't leave the house much. I will post more aobut that in your thread though.
But my mom is crazy and makes very little money and isn't able to help me much... I could get a job but I have done this in the past and work consumes all your life and saps all your creativity.. especially crappy menial jobs. Plus I get depressed trying to be social because I'm so bad at it.
Awesome!
All Business Owners, and Entrepreneurs we shake our heads at that saying, it's the advice from someone that has no experience, therefor has no insight in the subject..
It's like a Women saying "It sure is tough being a guy.." How would they know?
I can see how if you like to do business that is the case.. but as an inventor and artist I think it might be different. When you are an inventor you need to make prototypes most the time.. and then there are all the patent fees etc.
But this gets back to what you said earlier.. about not trying to get help. I would need help to do many things outside of my interest... especially things that required being social etc. As Aspies I thinkw e may need to work together to compete with neuro typicals. Lots of teamwork.
There's lots of stuff like that online also I'm not good on camera... and I am still learning, too. But it actually does take money to learn too because you need materials.
And to make a book/publish it's like 10 grand or something.. Unless the book idea you have is soooooo Awesome that you can't put it down, then consider something else..
What about a E-Book? Also.. what I have to write about would blow people away. But explaining it to people is not easy.. I'm not really a writer but I discovered something incredible
That's great info. I m hoping when people see my idea they will donate to help me develop it.. but it's scary giving away my idea in that way. I don't know if I have a choice though.

Yeah I kind of did this.. I actually had some people really interested in my sculpting before - a very famous professional comic book artist.. but my mom went crazy and blew it for me. It's a long story.. then I made this incredible discovery about science and history and have been researching that for years.. I put the sculpting aside. Now my mom wants to move across country and I have no choice but to go with her... and I don't want to live where she is taking me and she seems to want to precvent me from accomplishing anything.
I appreciate you supporting this thread.. I know that as Aspies it can be hard to come out and comment and things. We need to find some way to get over this though.. because I don't think anyone is truly going to help us unless we take the initiative because they don't know how but we can figure it out if we all work together.
