When I do it I like to say that I had a 'French Moment'.

How funny, since one wrong bathroom incident happened to me while visiting Montreal. I don't really speak French, and I didn't know that "toilet" means men's bathroom and "toilette" means women's bathroom. So I asked where the "toilet" was, and was directed to what was apparently the men's bathroom (there were no labels on the doors, and I didn't think to look up, so I missed the sign hanging from the ceiling). Being an open-minded girl, I thought maybe they had some kind of unisex bathrooms in Canada, and continued to use that bathroom. Then one time as I was going out the door, I met a very surprised-looking guy coming in. He said "I thought this was the men's bathroom", and I replied "I think it's
the bathroom." The next day I found the women's bathroom and felt really dumb.

I wouldn't mind a woman using the men's room if she needed to.
I sure would. While I think women are cool, I wouldn't want near me when I'm emptying out my bladder or my bowels.
Reminds me of the scene from Real Genius when Jordan comes in while Mitch is trying to pee.
Jordan: Are you done peeing?
Mitch: Actually, I couldn't start.
Jordan: Because I'm here?
Mitch: Yeah
Jordan: Oh, weird.
