It would be very hard to diagnose with a photo or picture of the individual.

He may not have aspergers at all, there are a range of other disorders out there that may fit. You say he looks sad, perhaps he's depressed or maybe he just looks that way.

If I was to look at a class photo and get told that one of the students on there had autism, then I'd fail to select which one. I just can't pick out autistics from NTs just by looks.
However, apparently, 59% of autistics have sandal-gapped toes, and 46% have an asymmetrical face.

Like the old saying goes, Never judge a book by it's cover. I don't believe in all of the stereotypes of Aspies being humorless, bland no facial expressions etc. The traits and mannerisms vary WIDELY depending on the personality. I am introverted, non-social, been told I look like I'm in a bad mood when I'm just "Thinking" about something. It just depends.

The first thing I have to ask, is whether your friend has given his permission for you to post his picture on the internet?

If not, this would be a gross abuse of trust. If yes, then please be sure he is aware that his photo will be on a public forum that anyone can see or download or misuse.

Even if you mean well, I'm uncomfortable with you posting about him in this way.

You cannot diagnose someone from how they look. There are certain morphological features but they may not be present in all people on the spectrum and autism is caused/affected by a variety of genes so as yet, there is nothing definitive.

If he has issues that are causing him problems, then as a friend the kindest thing you can do is support him in getting a mental health assessment which would include looking out for signs of autism.

Ignore the sarcastic posters.

From what ive read aspergers is not learned behavior
Its not tuaght or choosen.

Aspergers is how the brain body and face develope
While in the embryo.

Aspies brains are developed in a way that reception
In the brain such as taste smell sound touch is
All processed in a way that NT subjects.

Brain developement is correlated to face development
In utero.

He told me his mother lived in colorado and grandfather
Mined uranium in the 40s. His mother was exposed
To highly radio active water, air ,dust every day his granp
Came home.

his mom would wash his grandfathers radio active clothes
Along with her own....
His mother once took uranium rocks to school for
Show and tell.

His grandfather died of lung cancer , his mother lost
All her adult teeth by a 12 , his mothers brothers and
Sisters have all died of lukema and cancers...

In discussion with people alot of people exposed
To radiation give birth to autistic children

Whatever his issues or diagnosis, it's up to him to disclose or discover.
Unless he has specifically asked you to do so.

I agree with this. I am a diagnosed Aspie but you wouldn't think I'm an Aspie just by looking at me. I may look and act shy, I may sometimes look nervous, but that doesn't scream out Asperger's.

In reguards to acting nervous or shy
That has nothing to with being aspie.

its a characteristic. The only medical
Diagnosis is brain scans and nuero
stimulated responses to stimulus.

I suspect many people who claim to.be aspies
Are just self concious, socially shy, anxiety
Ocd trait people....

Behaviors are learned can be controlled
And manipulated.

Aspergers is supposed to be medical diagnosis
Not on behavior . But how the brain response
To outside stimulus processing.

What parts of the brain are activated during
Stimulus.

Em, that's his job. If he was just driving around in the van playing the music that would be a little strange, but he is selling ice cream!

There is a lot of research concerning other physical differences, so that autism isn't learned is without a doubt. Not that much research about looks though. There doesn't seem to be much difference from NTs, so the answer to the original question is no. Many people (researchers included) say that autistics are beautiful though, so there's that.
