(This may be a bit stupid question)
There are people that confuse introversion with shyness.
Introvert: enjoys time alone and gets emotionally drained after spending a lot of time with others. It's the tendency toward being wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one's own mental life.
Shy: is afraid to interact with others. It's a feeling of apprehension, lack of comfort, or awkwardness especially when a person is in proximity to other people, usually referred to as social anxiety or social phobia.
Introverts prefer solitary activities over social ones, whereas shy people (who may be extraverts at heart) avoid social encounters out of fear.
I'm both. I enjoy sometimes spending time with others (pre-COVID, at least) but after I do for a day or two, I want to be alone with minimal human interaction for a few days, if not a couple weeks. The shyness shows however when I am with people, I think. I tend to be pretty quiet in groups and I like to listen I guess more than speak. I also really dislike being the center of attention and prefer that in a group, somebody else takes "the lead", so to speak.
