I have strong interests but they don't take over my life that I forget to do things. I have a list of things I do every day from the time that I wake up to the time that I go to bed. I'm a frequent clock watcher and always have to check the time.

The only thing I forget to do is eat and sleep. Sometimes for a few days, but I always shower and everything else. I'm a little weird about germs.

My special interests aren't so strong that I lose track of time or neglect my needs because of them. They used to be when I was younger, especially as a child, but these days my interests are probably closer in intensity to hobbies. In fact, I know some NTs who spend more time on their hobbies than I do on my interests!

I draw faces and landscapes when I can, but I couldn't apply this to any job prospect as I quickly lose the desire to draw when I'm dealing with subjects out of my interests, and it's such a personal thing I don't even bother with having an online gallery as I get extremely shy when I'm showing my drawings to other people, it feels like I'm exposing myself naked to the public. :?

I did draw my avatar though, I'm getting pretty good with moods, although I can't do detailed eyes very well yet.

I am not sure how to best answer this question. Ever since I got married and had kids, my numerous duties have kind of become my obsession, but not to the point where I am actually very good at them. There are too many of them to get good at any one, which is frustrating. I'm rarely home alone, but when I am, I treat myself to a whole lot of gaming, reading, and my other personal hobbies; housework, cooking, household planning, and shopping go right out the window, and I will even reduce the amount of clothing on my body. I still (quickly) shower and eat, but I find it hard to force myself to spend any of that precious time sleeping, even if I have to work the next morning.

I'm married, yet I am obsessed with a girl at work, it's an infatuation. It's sad because my day's happiness of sadness depends upon the result of our social interaction. If she doesn't pay much attention to me I get really depressed all day, if she does I'm happy all day.

I blow through some things quickly, but others are longer-lasting, and they are always intense, consuming.

I don't forgot to eat and drink though sometimes I can stay up pretty late. My obsessions usually last for a few years. Then I'll abandon it not so much because I no longer like it but because I feel I've fully explored it. These obsessions will usually cost thousands of dollars each. They often involve acquiring rare artifacts from decades past. One year it might be vintage Lego, the next year it might be vintage video games, etc. I love how they can make me feel connected with the culture from before I was born but acquiring all these antiques can be expensive and they tend to clutter up the house.

I really wish I was obsessed with doing something employable. Then I'd not only be highly successful in my career but all the while it would feel as though I'd never worked a day in my life. Some are lucky enough to have that blessing but for the rest of us, work is something to be endured, not enjoyed.

I am so obsessed with a female bus-driver (I am not a lesbian, it's just an obsession, no sexual feelings at all - yuk!), that I want to BE her. I have always hated wearing dresses ever since I was about 8 or 9, and I haven't wore a dress since, but this bus-driver told me she wears dresses when she goes out for a meal, and so I'm going to buy a dress to wear to my cousin's wedding next year. And I've been dreading this wedding (it rhymes!!) - until this bus-driver also told me that she went to a wedding (in a dress) and she enjoyed it, so now I am looking forward to this wedding. Also I want my hair styled just like she has got her hair. My mum is pleased that I'm finally starting to take pride in myself.

I am also rather passionate about how people view me, so I do make it look casual when I'm talking to this bus-driver, so that she doesn't think I'm this obsessed with her.

I am not quite sure if my neglect tends to stem from preoccupation from special interests, it probably is. I tend to neglect a great deal of things so that I can engage in what I think is more important which is more often my special interests or anything that I can link to them. I have made it a point to make sure I do "responsible" things first. So I get up, use the bathroom, clean, do homework if I have it, eat a meal and THEN i sit at the computer and become engaged. After that though, obtaining means and restroom breaks are involved in convoluted races between what I want to do and what I need to do, because it tends to be painful such as hunger pangs, bladder pain etc.

I tend to go on "special interest binges" where I research one of my interests on the internet for hours at a time. I don't forget to eat or drink, but it's hard for me to switch tasks and do something else (I can do it, but get really irritated/annoyed), so I do it on days where there is nothing busy or pressing going on.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.
