Yes, but what is the mode of representation in your mind vis-à-vis the concept?

This is the part that I have a hard time explaining. Inside my head I can "feel" the concept as it is. Like the meaning behind words.

Also: how do you translate a concept into a sculpture? Are you operating associatively or synesthetically? So let me give you two distinct concepts 1) "virtue" and 2) "globalization"
How would you sculpt each one?

Some concepts translate better into certain mediums than others. That is why I sometimes have issues translating some concepts into words. The concepts you gave me are represented better by music and painting than by sculpture.

Got it. A friend of mine thinks in the same way.

Ok, well, then can you explain what the music might sound like.....

Sigh. I only ask questions like this because I'm fascinated by how other minds think.

If I had to do a sculpture of "virtue," it would be a square ionic pedestal, with each side panel having in bas relief representations of prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance; and the pedestal would be supporting three Corinthian columns, with three female statues in-between them, representing faith, hope, and love.

As for globalization, it would be a randomly rotating sphere with stainless steel outlines of the continents and the rest filled in by LEDs along the lines of latitude with continual news and stock market read-outs.

Here is my visual representation of virtue.

My mental image of this involves more glowing.

Oh, that's beautiful! Strong, tree-like, golden. I like the dots and the background, too. Very fresh and good feeling. :D
