Certain people with AS/ASD are probably more sensitive than others to outside-noise though. And kids usually don't clean their ears as much as they should too.

One of my Eyes is also better then the other. For me I have a lazy eye. I wore a patch when I was in preschool and about 20 years later it came back. I even know what made it come back. If I don't think about it, it stays away.

Some eye disorders are primarily neurological, as opposed to a problem with the structure of the eye itself. Those kinds of eye disorders are more likely to be comorbid with ASD because they're both brain problems. I have optic nerve hypoplasia (nerves connecting brain to eyeballs are underdeveloped), which is associated with autism. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the severely myopic aspies here have undiagnosed ONH. I didn't find out until I had imaging of my eyes for something unrelated.

Eye and ear problems are common to all humans, and are NOT symptoms of AS.

Otherwise, all people with AS/ASD would be reporting them.

Fnord your statement is like saying everyone that smokes is going to die young.

I have been told by a few people that I have a funny walk like I'm walking up the steps. At the same time I have a friend that is 57 and never been diagnosed with Aspergers but, has many common symptoms of Aspergers and does a lot of " you just don't get it" kind of things but, walks great and has great posture.

Another friend of mine that has been diagnosed with Aspergers does walk funny.

Obviously everyone with Aspergers is going to have social skills problems or some problems with reading ones Emissions but, I think the small things that are Aspergerish is not going to apply to everyone.

Maybe I have a mild case of optic nerve hypoplasia. None of my eyes can quite see the 20/20 line even with the best correction.

I have "snow vision" and so do my brothers. One dx with ADD. The other has tons of sensory issues like I do.

Also when I was dx'd the doc told me I did something with my eyes that let him know I was on the spectrum. No idea WHAT it was as he did not elaborate. But I did find this research and it is very interesting:

I had lot of ear infections when I was a baby and it got me hearing loss and made me language delayed. It also gave me other problems in the future and it's like brain damage because hearing loss in toddlers years and infancy is very bad because it then affects their development and their brain and they are facing problems in the future because their mind got wired differently and they never really recover meaning be a normie and have a typical brain like NTs. I remember reading in high school how common ear infections are in autism. I wonder if I never had hearing loss, I would have been NT with aspie traits since they do seem to run in my family.

Also I wear glasses and I never saw it as an ASD thing nor read by experts it was common in autism. My eyes got bad in my senior year in high school. I didn't even know I needed them because I wasn't experiencing any symptoms like head aches or missing the cup when I pour myself a drink when people need glasses and I could still read my book and see the computer and I wasn't walking into things so I didn't even guess I needed glasses. Now I know that is just a stereotype I see on TV or in books and it's not like that for everyone when they need glasses.
