Yeah, college students should be making, purifying, and analyzing their drinks before they get drunk instead.

No they should not be drinking alcohol in the first place. They should be more intellectually mature than that.

 Good one.

College, for many, is a time to let loose & party, get drunk, hookup for casual sex, do some recreational substances, learn about yourself & the world.. for many it's more about the socialization aspects than it is about academics. Learning stuff is secondary to a lot of college students. It just is the way it is. Those focused intensely on academics will likely be more successful in their chosen field of expertise, but that's not to say none of the party types are ever successful. Personally, if I ever did the college/uni thing again I'd prefer a better balance of the two vs. all work and no play. Since I've been out of school now, with the exception of some correspondence courses, for 11+ years now.. well, I've certainly partied and enjoyed myself more than enough to make up for not doing it during school  so, I don't have any real burning desire to return to uni for those purposes. Just sayin' if I ever did, though, I'd make it a more balanced time and enjoy more partying than I did the first time around.

I happened to go to a university that has a rather large number of extremely introverted nerdy people and is known as an engineering school (though I got a degree in science there, not in engineering).

As a result, the people who I hung out with were are very eccentric, introverted people --for which several of whom I wouldn't be surprised if they did have AS/ASD. I knew at least two or three people who had confirmed AS/ASD.

And for this, I am quite grateful. It's nice to be amongst people most similar to yourself, something I've ironically lost in graduate school.

I learned a lot from making, purifying, and analyzing alkyholic beverages in college. It was good hobby for chemistry major, and some of my products were delicious, or alternatively vile, depending on who was doing the drinking. It was verry merry berry intellectually mature, like wine tasting at napa valley.
