the only thing that I can think that might be a common thread in appearance is the awkward gait but I am sure that's not the same with everyone.

As for physical appearance there is no distinctive look although I have always found that I can spot people who have it quite well, that's not necessarily with everyone though. but I am drawn to people with it so I must see something just don't know what it is :D

Mashed Potatoes

WOW THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I LOOK LIKE!! !!

Now now Bach. I've seen you're pictures. To me you look like an American Grid Iron player. Tall and dashing. You would have wow'd the girls in your 20's easy.

I think instead of a look, Aspies have more of an action about them. I've watched some Youtube vids that asks "can you pick who's Autisic". It took me about 15 seconds to pick correctly. Watch their interaction with other people, it becomes far more obvious.

I don't believe you could go on looks alone, perhaps in the rare case. It's how they act, how they move, and most of all how they interact with other people that gives it away.

No but in all seriousness, autism spectrum disorders seem to have no apparent physical phenotype. Characteristics of autism can only be gathered from behaviour, socialization and development. So in that sense people with autism can come from all walks of life and look like anything.

A lot of people have a black facial expression. There is something about our eyes, possibly due to not being able to coordinate our facial muscles very well. I can't explain it, but it is definitely distinctive to AS people, makes us stand out.

Having gone to special schools to the 7th grade with tons of ASD kids
there is no set pattern like that to see what one looks like.
But I do think for me in a lot of cases the "it takes one to know one" thing applies.
Also just like you can conclude that someone is probably NT, you can also conclude
that someone is probably AS - especially if you have AS and been around AS.

(And I thought you were gluten free there missy, what are you doing indulging in non-gluten free BEER every week! Barley's just as bad as wheat as I'm sure you know.)

Don't ask me, I have no idea what autism looks like.

No me, I sleep every day. I need my 8 to 9 hours. I did stay up for 24 hours once though with bad insomnia.

There is no "cookie cutter" looks and traits we share. We are all different
