Typical autistic face. Didn't know such a term existed.

I would think it's something like an uninterested look.

Looks good but that was just the lighting at dusk.
I'm actually more pale than that.

Yeah always making progress, but still struggling with selective mutism.

I look at the pic and think "cute kid. He's going to be a handsome man when he grows up."

I thought this too. I've never seen an autistic kid who isn't spectacularly cute.

Ezra, it's off-topic, but I just wondered how the internet and other technology has impacted your life? I ask because I'm verbal and high functioning, and only really obviously autistic to people who know me well and yet the internet has allowed expression that simply would not otherwise have been available to me. I've been able to connect and make friends in ways that I was not able to in adulthood until I came online. I imagine your experience is an exaggeration of that.

With regard to the photo, if I'm totally honest I think it does look a little autistic, but I'm only able to say that because I) I know you're autistic and 2) I'm used to autistic expressions because of the people in my life, such as my sons. I wouldn't know without those two crucial elements.

Well... I discovered two big teen discussion forums and joined them right after I turned 13.
I am the highest posting member on both.
In four months I went past 3000 posts on both (while completely neglecting WP ).
So it has been an amazing experience for me. I have established a very good reputation on both.
I was nominated for best new comer of 2013 on one, and won "most influential member" of 2013 on the other.
So yeah on the internet I have become an outspoken liked kid.

It was just something that crossed my mind as I posted it as my profile pic in the other forum.
I guess it kinda brought me back down to earth and reminded that I am still that autistic kid.
But not in a bad way.
One of my main characteristics is that tent to look off to the side, which has had some strangers wonder
if I was blind. I'm sure you are very used to the "what's wrong with your kid?" questions. And of course
there is no problem to the stranger saying whatever, with the kid right there, because the kid is
"out to lunch" and can't understand what is being said about him

I can look at a camera, but not if I am forced to.

I know when I am concentrating, slightly stressed or generally in "Work Mode" at my job, I will do that. People think I'm mad, but I'm just trying to "Hash Through" a problem or issue.

That's cool. It's funny, isn't it - the disjuncture between one's actual social self and the self one can discover through online interaction?

Yeah, actually a friend who's known us ages talked about my son right in front of him recently - and it makes him visibly anxious, so that's probably quite a good cue to stop, eh? And, yeah, I sometimes get the 'rubbish parent' looks. Ah well :?

Kicking shins sounds like a great idea. Beats hitting my head, for sure :)
