While I can't comment on the police thing except to say in my limited encounters they have always believed me, this is the only logical explanation for why I could not land a job. I was flat out told numerous times there is NO WAY I should have difficulty finding work but I took 3 full years after university and still never ended up with anything close to my field. I finally said to an executive "you can believe what you want but I'm telling the truth". Job recruiters can't seem to see past pop theories and textbooks and understand everybody is unique.

I should have clued in when I was a for-sure hire on several occasions and after meeting the HR person/executive, etc they suddenly said that I did not meet their standards. I thought I was going crazy but no doubt it was the whole minimal eye contact thing. What's further ironic is my brother is a pathological liar and he makes EXCELLENT eye contact! I have NEVER landed a 'real' job after doing a 1 on 1 interview but ironic I did pass an interview panel for a much higher paying position.

What I find most frustrating of all is how I am brutally honest, will not steal or cheat under any circumstances yet am constantly accused of cheating in sports and considered a liar by people who don't know me with ZERO proof or evidence.

Lately it's become a special interest for me. And I'm glad, because I'm learning a lot, and it's helping me to make sense of my past, and make better decisions in the future!

Until I get a screened for it in a month, yes. I've been obsessing over it since my therapist told me I might have ASD instead of ADD.

Autistic activism has been my special interest since the latter part of August.

I've been obsessed with autism for the past two years! In that time there literally hasn't been a single day that I haven't spent at least a few hours reading or thinking about it.

I was told by a close personal friend I had on the inside, that I had the job "in the bag". A couple more weeks went by, and I asked him, "so are they going to call me?" and he said "Oh, yeah... um.... remember that last gentleman you met on the way out after your interview? He is a VP and it turns out he does not think you are a fit. It appears he didn't like your handshake."

It has become that because I feel a need to find out what to do with myself. But it has taken up way too much time lately!

We have such a weird system where as children we have to go to school, and do our homework and chores. We're not allowed to just sit at home doing nothing. But then we graduate, and then suddenly it's like "no no no, you're not competent enough for this stuff. No chores for you!" And we're sent home to sit around doing nothing. The world is a strange place.

I guess you could say it's kind of gotten to the point where it is a special interest for me, yes....that, plus sensory-processing disorder.

Aspie women are an obsession. And so are NT women. And how the two groups compare as dating partners is an obsession for this recently dx'd single aspie guy.

But aspergers itsself is not a particular obsession for me.

I have a CRAZE about AS and "similar" problems. It was somewhat "impairing". It was an obsession, fixation. I had it even earlier (about 6 years ago).

My mentality is worried beacuse I might have just NLD, personality disorder, neurosis etc., not a PDD, ASD... It is ill. And I think that classifications in America are wrong. "NVLD" is inadequate name for socio-emotional-behavioral disorder.

It's not in the active special interest stage anymore (I don't spend my whole days reading, thinking and writing about it like I did before) but it still stays an strong interest to me. I often think about my traits and enjoy reading about AS as well as write on the forum. Just other interests take priority now and there is no more "AS discover hours" in my daily schedule. I get on it only when something comes up.

I had a mania about AS some weeks ago, it stopped when I went back to medication... Some cases of AS are mysteriously fascinating for me and might be special interests by itself.

It was, until reading the posts in this thread. Now I think I'll find something else to interest me.

Since I've started a new anti-anxiety med, I've been kind of tired a lot, so maybe sleeping will be my new special interest.

My interest in Aspies appeared to be quite pathological.
