You know, there are probably at least several websites catering to almost every special interest imaginable, even the most arcane ones, all filled with people who love to talk about that subject. That's why they belong to those sites. :wink:

My special interests are music, cycling, and fishing. I belong to at least 3 websites for each. People there care more about your sharing their interest, than your personality. Look for ones that have hands-on moderators, who don't tolerate personal attacks.

You can also use driven and milling tooling with CNC turning centres as well. Vertical Turning centres also exist for the purpose of turning extremely large diametre Workpieces, so not all turning is horizontal. It is always funny to have someone explain to a trainee how to comprehend the Axes when using vertical turning centres. :P

I've been blathering on about my special interest on several internet forums for some years now, and to my surprise, I am now regarded as an expert and people are willing to pay me large sums of money to continue talking about it in real life. I realize now this is the sort of "internet presence" one is supposed to build up professionally, but which I never thought about doing. Nice surprise -- you never know.
