I have appalling co-ordination, but if I hadn;t injured my knee ligaments I may well be playing football (soccer) professionally.

Luckily for me I missed out on the uncordinated aspects of AS.

Yes, I constantly trip over my feet and knock over my chair when I'm pulling it out. But for some reason I am a good dancer. I have been told this by many people. As a matter of fact, I do some breakdancing and people have been very impressed (seriously, peoples are amazed when I start doing stuff on my hands, not to brag). I danced for the first time in public a couple months ago and had an amazed reaction from people Has anyone here found that they are good at dancing despite bad coordination? I think one person mentioned it a long time ago, calling it something like the Napoleon Dynamte Complex. haha.

You may wish to consider taking up Capoeira. It's an Afro-Brasilian martial art which combines hand-to-hand combat, acrobatics, music, and dance. Plus, several of the movements are analogous to breakdancing as well.

I do Irish Step Dancing and am better co-ordinated when dancing than usual. It might have something to do with the rhythym as I am good at keeping time. Plus because you have to dance with a straight back it has actually improved my everyday posture thus giving me an extra inch of height I didn't know I possessed,

I have the coordination challenges that can come with AS. All my life. From difficulty writing, tying shoe laces, to riding a bicycle, to playing ball games. Always the last one chosen for the team. But I thought if I tried really hard, I could do it. I have a brother who is a natural born athlete and he would shriek 'how can anybody be so uncoordinated?' I took martial arts and got to a certain level with a lot of work. But I didn't realize until too late that my sense of balance was so poor and my movements so uncoordinated that people were laughing at me behind my back and I was oblivious. It was humiliating. Over the years - lots of broken bones from accidents. I move more slowly now, more deliberately and have fewer accidents. I can type. Writing is still a chore. Even writing a check, I have to form the letters and numbers slowly. I can't read my own notes if I'm under stress.

What I'm OK at is walking and hiking and backpacking at my own pace.

On the question of stuttering while singing - I stutter too and singing is not speech and I can sing fluently though off pitch.

I have really good coordination but cannot dance at all. When i dance it looks like i'm doing the robot dance.
