I hate, loathe, and despise surprises. That's because of a lifetime of negative experience with surprises.

I like GOOD surprises, I don't like bad ones (obviously). A good surprise happened the other day, I got into my car to find that my dad installed really nice all-weather mats and surprised me with it, I was extremely happy and excited about it! Those surprises I love. For Christmas and my birthday I make it really clear what I want, but if they get me something that I didn't ask for, I just usually smile and say thank you and figure out what to do with it later. People put a lot of effort into picking gifts for others and I understand that, and want to show them that I know and care about that.

The bad surprises I don't like are when people surprise visit me.

OMG!! ! I HATE when people stop by. Mostly my dad does it and I get super anxious and it takes me a while to get to the door, sometimes I hope if I go slow enough he will go away. Not because I dont like my dad, I just dont like that he randomly showed up. My heart just stops and I freeze.

As long as they don't come up to me and say that my dad is actually a cat or something or as long as it's not a bad one, I can say that I'm pretty good with surprises.
I really hate surprises that include lots and LOTS of people involved in it. Like a very big family meal. Those creep me out so much sometimes.

if somebody surprised me with the gift of a million bucks, I'd be happy and welcoming of that kind of surprise.

I do not like situational surprises like "surprise we are taking you to the beach right now!"
Or "surprise we are going to a Korean restaurant right now!"
But I love getting surprise gifts as much as any kid I suppose.
Just as long as it is not something like, "surprise, it's a boa constrictor!"

Ditto

The best thing about unwanted presents is that you can regift them years later I think. I dont know though, is it the surprise that bothers other aspies or is it the disappointment or lack of getting what you dont want?

In my case certainly the latter .

I don't like surprises of any kind but the thought of getting an unwanted gift when there is always something I DO want is a double whammy .

All my friends and family give me cash gifts now as they know it will go straight into my snake fund .

I just don't like surprises. I buy my own pressies usually. I find it next to impossible to pretend to be happy with something I don't need or want. I absolutely hate it when I ask for something and then get an unacceptable alternative.
I prefer to give than to receive. I raraly buy gifts without spending a lot of thought on what the person might want or need. Even stocking fillers at X-mas I put thought into.
I don't recycle unwanted pressies either unless I know it is is something that I know a particular person will enjoy. Most of them end up on car boot sales or charity shops after spending some years at the back of the cupboard.
People that know me are very much aware of this with as a results I get few pressies now. I can live with it.

This .

I can't lie about anything and I certainly can't pretend to like a gift if I don't like it ....

I'm indifferent about suprises, unless they interfere with my routines; in which case, I hate them.

Oh lord, I hate surprise "places" as in hey were going now. I like to prepare, have my things packed and etc.

My mom would always call and be like "get ready were going here!" And give me literally 5 mins to prepare.... Or show up and tell me were going somewhere.

She stopped now that I've had numerous meltdowns because of it. I hate being rushed.
