Quite interestingly, I only noticed that a few months ago when I started to investigate whether I had an autistic condition. When I read that people with AS or other conditions often eat the same things everyday, my first reaction was "Well, of course I don't do that"... and then I noticed that I did. (Up to a point at least.)

There are quite a few options for lunch at my work. I can't go to the cafeteria with my colleagues (too much noise, too many people around, and I find social talk over lunch very stressful, especially in those conditions) but there are at least 3-4 other places where I can grab various take-away food or sit for lunch. But still, I only stick to the same 2-3 sandwiches or salad I am familiar with. Sometimes it takes me a while to decide which option I will choose, but I almost always (more than 90% of the times) end up choosing one of the three same options.

I have only been working in that place for one year, but when I started noticing that pattern, I found out I had been doing the exact same thing (with different places and different lunch options) at my previous work place. And at the place before. And for as long as I can remember since I graduated.

Dinner is usually more varied. I genuinely enjoy cooking and good food, and I feel much more comfortable when I can directly control what I put in a dish. I sometimes try to be creative, and the result is usually good, but I still tend to stick to ingredients and tastes I know. In an opposite fashion, my girlfriend always try wild things and mixes some unlikely ingredients ; in the beginning it disturbed me a lot but the result is almost always excellent, so now I manage to just trust her and not worry when she's cooking. I have much more difficulties when someone I don't know (and who doesn't know my tastes) is cooking. When I am invited at someone's place, I will usually bring some food, both as a contribution to the dinner and to be sure there is something I can eat.

Oh, also I was very picky about my food as a child (much more than I am now). I could hardly eat any meat before 10 years old ( I remember I hid the bits of meat under mashed potatoes not to eat them), and I was disgusted by quite ubiquitous ingredients like tomatoes and cheese. I think my diet almost only consisted in mashed potatoes, green beans, pasta, sometimes soup, yoghurt and fruits. (And bread. LOTS of bread. I still love it.) Now I like meat if it is well cooked (but I limit my consumption for ethical reasons) and I love tomatoes, but I still hate cheese (including the one on pizzas or in sandwiches).

On one forum I'm on there is "what did you eat today?" (I think there is one here too).
Now when it comes to breakfast, it is almost always Cheerios.
For lunch, it's whatever the cafeteria is serving (but have the monthly menu so I know what to expect)
Dinner is usually the typical variety of American dinners. It can be traditional like chicken, potatoes and
green beans, or it can be Chinese food at a restaurant. My only stipulation is that I know what to expect
as far ahead of time as possible. If someone springs a surprise meal on me, I'm often unable to eat it.

So just wondering how it is for everyone else. Same meal each day at a certain time, or variety etc?

Tell parents what needs to be in my packed lunch so no possibility for badness there
Breakfast is always cereal, recently has been something called "golden nuggets"
Lunch is the packed lunch and if that isn't there because it is a weekend then no eating occurs
Dinner is always not necessarily the same meal on the same day but all of the meals known and liked such as vegetarian sausage sandwiches or chips with mayonnaise and mop salt.
Gotta be around a certain or am unable to eat or get incredibly grumpy
Cannot eat things such as broccoli, results in retching or vomiting
also eat incredibly slowly comparatively
Never order food for myself and switch between several possible options i.e at the chinese take out, always order egg fried rice or noodles or both and heat the noodles up the next day with vegetable spring rolls as well as sweet and sour sauce
Also had the friend problem like others here, ended up not eating and becoming distressed and almost melting down
