Ive always had a connection with animals,i have experience moslty with cats and dogs.there were cats who freaked out with most people but with me no problem.dogs seem to listen to me more than others and its not always a verbal thing.sometimes all i have to do is point at them say what o have to say in my mind and its like they can hear me.its my opinion that there is sort of a brain to brain connection that can happen,it seem to happen between animals aswell.ive had a couple of run ins with skunks, and they acted like i wasnt even there, maybe they were too focused on what they were doing.
ive always felt more like an animal than a human, maybe they see it,maybe its my calmness

ever notice how a lot of the body language that people like is what animals hate? bared teeth, open extended palms, etc. maybe the correlation could be explained at least in part by that. a lot of cats that are poorly socialized and standoffish with people take to me right away. even feral cats (which i saw a lot of in china) took a liking to me to an extent. i mean, i wasn't petting them or anything. but they sat by me, which i did not see them doing with others, even people with food.

I attract dogs like a freshly-opened bag of Beggin' Strips.

If by drawn, you mean attack.

Yes.

I cope well with animals specialy wit dogs, have had dogs for about 30 years.

I think animals and small kids are easy to understand.
When kids grow older and learn social rules I can't handle them any more.

Now my daughters are over 30 I can't understand or handle them at all.

Animals generally seem to like me, especially cats. I think it's because I'm quiet and let them come to me instead of going and getting in their space, plus I'm pretty good at reading animal body language.

Hey my cat plays fetch and kisses me after I put his food out (before he eats). He goes outside and half the neighborhood is in love with him. The dogs even love him, even dogs that don't love cats. When I go out alone the neighbors always ask me where he is (adults too, not just kids). And I live in a big city, not some tiny town where everybody knows each other. Where's Pancho? Where's Pancho? That's all I ever hear! :D

Aw. My cat is like that too, very affectionate and quick to learn tricks. He isn't a loner or indifferent by any means.

Cats actually aren't that interested in me, but dogs definitely are. My mother's dog -- a beautiful gentle Australian Shepherd named Sugar -- adopted me as her favorite from the 1st time she was around me. And my cousin's dog readily came up to me and let me scratch him the first time I ever saw him. My cousin was surprised and said that he NEVER did that with anyone he didn't know well.

It seems that way sometimes. Pets that are normally aloof or even aggressive, frequently warm up to me to the surprise of their owners. The only wild animals I have frequently interacted with closely are injured birds, and those too usually become relaxed and allow me to handle them.

But it probably is because I am drawn to them, they sense my benign intent and respond more openly.

But yes,

Quoted for Truth!

As an addition to that, I have noticed that persons with major disabilities and new immigrants seem to flock to me too. Again, think it's because they know I am very straightforward and don't play social games. Still, babies/toddlers and animals are drawn FAR more towards me than any other group. How many toddlers, dogs and cats have leaped into my arms over the years? I lost count! I will never forget my Ex GF's dog used to run up to me even over his own family and he didn't know me.

I really think you got it right with this observation, KoR.
We're skittish, wary, move with deliberation & caution, don't like unexpected touches, noises, prolonged eye contact, or other surprises in our environment, and tend to respect that in other creatures, which I think they immediately notice.

Not that all animals love me, but the ones that get snarky or violent I just growl at, and for the most part I'm way bigger so they always back down.
However, most animals seem to like me pretty well, even if it's a little disconcerting sometimes that the pets than don't like anyone come over & like me right away a lot of the times.

Cats seem drawn to me, and the feeling's mutual--I'm very much a cat person.
I suppose dogs come up to me a lot, too, but they make me nervous how
they get all up in your area, putting their nose in your crotch and demanding so
much attention. I suppose they sense my nervousness too, because dogs often bark
at me, which just makes me even more anxious and want to avoid them even more.
I'm trying to work on my dog-anxiety, though, since it seems every other person
owns one these days.
I truly can't walk down my street on a nice day without somebody's unleashed canine
running up and barking at me.
I've never had to feel nervous about a cat meowing at me and tearing my flesh tho :)
