Depends which way I tilt my fingers, but I have heard this before and found it true for maybe 80% of people.

Its based on male brain type or female brain type rather than actual gender.

I've been having a hard time doing an accurate self measurement.

If I extend my arms horizontally in front of me, aligned with my shoulders and then point my fingers upward as perpendicularly as possible, my ring finger looks longer than my index finger.

If I extend my arms horizontally to the side of me looking over my shoulder and then point my fingers upward as perpendicularly as possible my index and ring fingers look almost equal in length.

If I relax my arm at my side, then bend it to an "L" shape so that the lower portion of my arm is horizontal to the floor (or surace) with palm facing inward, then my ring finger is significantly longer than my index finger.

If I place my hand palm-down on the table and align the bottom-most joints to touch the edge of the counter, pushing my hand down flat, it gives a harsh twisting feeling but then shows those two fingers as equal lengths.

If I relax my hand while doing this my ring finger is longer.

Then when I take a ruler directly to each finger and measure from the innermost webbing of each of the lengths of each finger they measure about the same, although I do think the webbing may rise a little higher one one side, but it all depends on the angle.

I honestly don't know which reading is correct.

OK, so I just printed out two rulers and lined them up side by side, pressed down on my fingers, aligning my middle finger straight between the rulers, and it shows my ring finger is 0.5cm longer than my index. I guess I'll take this as the correct reading.

The study doesn't fit myself or my child with ASD, but I will tell you what we don't need to have a specific type of hands to prove our ASD.

Not trying to prove anything. Just gathering information.
