As strange as it sounds, I only enjoy being drunk in certain situations. When I'm with close friends and we're having a good time, then it's pretty fun. If I'm by myself, or in some crowded bar, then it's not so great. It definitely lowers my inhibitions and makes me more talkative, and I don't mind physical contact nearly as much as I do when I'm sober, but if I'm in a bad situation where something angers me or makes me anxious, it most definitely amplifies those negative emotions. One of the more amusing side effects of drunkenness, I find is that I tend to get the "munchies", much like stoners do when they smoke pot. :P I get really hungry and food tastes soooooo good. :D

BTW, I think this thread should be moved to "Adult Autism Issues". ;) It's pretty tame right now for what it is, but I could definitely see it going in a not-so-PG13 direction.

I have read on this board that many people here don't like the effects of alcohol.

I find in the right time and place alcohol is the best lubricant for me to enjoy myself.

As some of you may know I am in Ireland and a number of years ago I went to New York.

About an eight hour flight and I had 13 of those single serving bottles of wine on the flight.

A taxi ride into the city left our stuff at the hotel straight into Time Square at night with all the lights going and crowds everywhere.

Hit a couple of the bars and had more beers then I can remember. :D

Either you're Australian or you would do well in this country.

I've seen ratass drunk and it doesn't look like a pretty sight. I've been that way myself.

Now I'm very sensitive to alcohol's effects. I can have only three beers and feel a pretty good buzz. After that I begin to get blurry vision.

When I am drunk I get tired and irritable. It also leaves me completely vulnerable to hazards. I don't like anything about it.

I will drink no more than one beer just to be sociable, and if I am out, I won't drink at all.

I got drunk on Saturday and it's an extremely rare thing for me to do. As expected I become very dizzy and disoriented but was exceedingly polite, friendly and "NT". The bartender kept asking if I wanted another round and he probably didn't realize how drunk I was because I was so polite and well spoken. I also have an extremely low tolerance for alcohol. I would have never drank if it wasn't free because I find it's not worth the sky high cost.

One thing I have never understood is the saying that when you are drunk your judgement is impaired. Every time I was drunk I knew it and I was very aware I was in no condition to drive and wouldn't even dream of doing it, legal or not. I was very aware I was having extreme difficultly walking but for some bizarre reason had no problem running full speed to catch the bus!

Rat ass drunk? I prefer the terms "hammered" or "drunk off my ass" but for some reason everything just seems a bit more enjoyable to me.

its because you dont have a tolerance
once the tolerance starts kicking in it sometimes becomes hard to judge just how drunk you are

Southern Comfort is the most horrible alcohol I've ever tasted and Red Bull is the most horrible non-alcoholic beverage I've ever tasted (threw away most of the can). I shudder to think what they taste like together. `

Drink is the one thing that helps me and make it appear that I can function normal. As a result I developed a dependancy to alcohol way before I was diagnosed in order to cope better. I hate getting drunk though. Well, I like it, but I hate the hangover.

I hate that s*** not only does it taste gross but it left me with a terrible hang over when I hardly drank any of it....just nasty crap.

One of three times I have been drunk involved the only time i've ever drunk Vodka. It tasted like cordial, so I drank a fair bit before I figured out that it was a bad idea.

Surely, it must have been mixed with something if it tasted like cordial. Vodka on its own just tastes like liquid fire, though when it's mixed with something it gives a nice "booziness". :P

Maybe I have a high resistance, I'm not sure.

Maybe it's only because they are together that they end up tasting good! :D

I have never been drunk either. I don't know if anyone else is like this. There are some nights where I will drink like 6 or 7 glasses of wine or more shots of vodka than I can count. Afterwards I might feel a little sleepy and get a headache, but the dizziness, slurred speech, disorientation, throwing up, violent outbursts, talkativeness, that other people seem to exhibit/describe I just don't get.
