Good point, magpie. "White noise" works wonders for me as well. I always fall asleep much better if I have the humidifier on.

I used to only ever get asleep while the TV was on. As said, having something to concentrate on can help you switch off. But i always ended up leaving the TV on all night, so the little green man inside me stopped me doing that. Now i will just listen to my MP3 player. Or be a smart little boy and use the "SLEEP" button on my remote.

Thank you for the Melatonin suggestion; I tried it and it seems to be working pretty well.

I took about 2mg melatonin last night and I feel pretty good today. Baby woke me up every 2 hours as usual, but I feel more rested than usual.

These days I've have times when there is difficulty in find sleeping but, I'm not sure if this could be due to the fact that, many years ago I had worked the Graveyard Shift for some time something, I feel might have contributed to my every-once-awhile bout of insomnia or that there may be other causes or causitive factors.Anyways, It would be best to share this information with your doctor for, maybe you might find a treament(s) that will work for you.

Why do people say 'I slept like a baby' when babies wake up every two hours ???

(I use a humidifier, or an air purifier for white noise, along with melatonin.)

I suffer from insomnia, not quite as badly as some of the other responses on here, but I was following a 26 hour clock for a while, adding two hours ontothe day each day, waking up at 3am, going to sleep in the mid afternoon... my best remedy for it so far has been improving my diet, eating oily fish, drinking green tea and eating fruits with high vitamin c contents and loads of antioxidants. helps with my depression and all... haven't tried melatonin or SSRI's or anything like that.. I'm not willing to, even for things like anxiety attacks and stress, which I had a bit of last year. Then again, last year I was using marijuana, getting pissed off my face and going to McDonalds. Healthy eating, exercise (hauling cabinets up four flights on my own counts as exercise, right?) and optimism seem to be the best panacea for everything.

Good luck with beating your insomnias....
