Go for it, then!

I've read a little bit about Estonia. Are you in Talinn? It is said that it is the most successful ex-Soviet republic.

I am from south-eastern Estonia. It has been somewhat successful, but a lot of people are leaving from here, Pro-Russians are in power in some cities (also Tallinn) and then there is going on a theater in Tallinn to get to European parliament. Right now they are going to open a shop, where is the most cheapest food (some of them) in Tallinn.

Who is opening up a cheap food shop? Who is going to the European Parliament? Why are the Russians so popular? People have a short memory when it comes to life under Communism.

Tallinn's Town Government is opening a shop, which is lead by Edgar Savisaar.

Quote:

E. Savisaar is going to take part of elections, but he said that he is not going there, so I am not 100% sure who will go there, after all, it is suspicious.

Quote:

After WWII, in north-eastern and northern Estonia was build a lot of factories. To run these factories, a lot of Russian workers were imported and soon Estonians became minority in north-eastern Estonia, which they still are. But in Tallinn, Estonians managed to stay majority. It was Communistic Party politic to make Russians majority, goal was to make everyone Russian (language, culture, etc). There are local government elections after every 4 years, everyone who lives in Estonia is allowed to vote in them. So Russians and old people are voting for Pro Russian Savisaar's party (In English it is called Central Party) and so it keeps getting in to power.

It is somewhat true, old people and Russians living here love it. Younger people do not know about problems which were back then, lack of food, lack of everything, everyone were equally poor. People are not really happy with current government. Parliament politics wage is 10x more than min wage is. According to statistics, average wage is here around 900-1000 euros. If one politic has wage of 3500 euros a month and 25 people got wage of 400 euros a month, then average would be about 520.

It would be ridiculous if you went back to the Russian Sphere of Influence.

Do you understand Finnish?

Maybe you could go to school in Helsinki.

Do people actually make 1000 Euros a month on average where you are?

Estonia and Russia relations are bad and people are not really supporting it. To go to Russia's sphere of influence, Estonia would have to leave from EU and/or NATO. I do not understand Finnish, next year I am going to study German instead of Finnish.

I hope you don't go under the Russians again. I'm glad there's resistance. It better if you're more oriented towards the West.

Do you have knowledge of German already?

They say English is a Germanic language--but I think English is more different to German than it is to French.

Do people only make 500 Euros per month on average?

I don't have really big knowledge about German, but I am able to read it much better than Russian language. English and German do have some similarities- these might be rules, but words are very different.

English was basically German before 1100 AD. Spoken English until about 1500 sounded German. English is strongly influenced in vocabulary by the Romance languages.

You sound like an intelligent young man. Always try to have confidence in yourself.

I can be intelligent, but I make very simple mistakes without understanding that I make a mistake (especially in math). Exams are coming and I am more prepared for them than start of the year. My confidence is growing little bit every day, sometimes people comment(s) can crash it, sometimes they can raise it.

I'm glad you're confident at least some of the time.

You obviously had a good education in English.

It's pretty late in Estonia now--almost midnight.

Have you a girlfriend?

I doubt anyone here can give specific information on the conscription regulations of the Estonian Military. You need to do your research directly with your military, and with doctors perhaps, to see if you have a disqualifying physical condition. If it comes down to it, and assuming you are autistic, getting a diagnosis of autism may be better then having to get conscripted. But the diagnosis is generally irrevocable and will have an effect on other aspects of your life.

In my country (USA), an autism diagnosis disqualifies you from entering the military. You can theoretically appeal to get in with autism with medical approval, but it is extremely hard to do.

Their are different viewpoints to have on military service. I served 27 years, and only an injury ended my working with the military. I am undiagnosed, and do not have severe autism. I liked the military and thought it went well with my autistic tendencies in general.

Here in Australia, conscription was abolished back in the late '60s early 70s. My father got out of his conscription for the Vietnam War by claiming he was a bedwetter and homosexual. He also had a heart murmur and lazy eye, and they didn't want him.

Flash forward twenty years, and my ever despairing parents were on my case to get employment. I had just finished high school. This was the year before Gulf War One. My parents nagged me to apply for military service, so I tried to join the navy. I passed every test except the psych test, and thankfully they did not want me. This was good. I did not want them either.

Now that I was recently diagnosed with an ASD, I reflect back on that experience and think, "small wonder."

I imagine that your military will figure out that you are not conscription material. However, you may need to really get the point across. Do you have a diagnosis? I imagine this would be grounds for an exemption. I wish you well.
