it depends on the persons level of autism and their mental capacity, if they have a regular or above mental capacity [aka the high functioning spectrum] then they have no excuses for not knowing the consequences of what they are doing,the only genuine reason behind any forensic behaviors for aspies is obsessions that have gone wild but that still isnt an excuse and it woudnt get them out of a sentance of some kind.

pretty much every murderer with an ASD has had a lot of other issues alongside; dysfunctional family, sometimes abuse or violence in the family, isolation, bullying, homicidal unstable depression etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong but stalking a ex-girlfriend does not seem like a behavior that an autistic person would do. especially to the extreme that the court docs describe it as.

at the old residential home of mine;in their supported living service,one of the lads there was a severe aspie and he had a lot of forensic behaviors and was arrested many times for them,one of which was stalking women and following them home.
another example woud be the alleged murderer aspie;barry george who had a people obsession and woud stalk his favourites,he even admits it;

You could make that claim for anyone, not just a person with autism or any type of social disorder.

He is charged for stalking and extortion. I did not, having read very quickly through, find out what he actually did to get the extortion charge. I do, however, understand someone with AS having problems with stalking. But I also believe that educating the AS person regarding their behavior would be useful to help them understand what exactly constitutes stalking (making a list would help!), and then that would probably ameliorate that problem. I also think that the obsessive behavior could be treated effectively with SSRIs. I do not think that the sentence was commensurate with the crime, however. Unless I'm missing something major here, 55 years incarceration sentence comes off as being very heavy handed.

yeah they are basically putting him away for life, he would probably get a shorter sentence if he killed the person it makes no sense
