I am exhausted, I don't want to speak.

ASdogGeek, I'll PM you soon.

I'll look into TTY although I don't have a land line, only cable internet and a mobile.

It makes sense for me to switch off my verbal communication as it harms me and causes meltdowns.

I emailed my care coordinator about this problem so I'm hoping she'll reply soon.

You might be able to get a TTY adapter for your mobile phone). If your mobile has a "TTY mode", then I think you should be able to get an adapter for it.

Speaking is so hard for me. The huge amount of processing required, the word mix ups, the repetitions and confusion on both sides.

But nobody around me will accept my wishes to communicate with AAC. And I feel embarrassed to use it, especially in public (the stares and muttering people direct at me).

What can I do?? I am getting physically ill due to speaking = extreme effort.

I also went to collage in London - trying to keep going with the daily overload and my classes was enough, without the constant stress of communication. I had to spend a lot of time in my room to get through, and of course the libraries and museums were places to be. Hope you find a formula that works and good luck with it all :)

Thanks. I'll look at my mobile's settings.

Going to uni in London is tough. Anyone who goes has to be a hard wearing person.

Thankfully I don't live in halls and I live at home in the suburbs.

Talking of uni, I need to go there today to return my library books. I'm apprehensive but I took part of my olanzapine dose this morning so hopefully that will help.

I can likely help with the phone call thing, as I have put a solution together to do it. First though, I know you may have answered this before but

What do you use for AAC???? Do you have a tablet of some kind or Ipad?

Also which apps are you using?

I'm wondering if your experience of verbal vs non verbal are anything like mine here is a post I wrote on it
