I find it too depressing to watch people, I much prefer to get out in the sticks, away from it all and watch nature instead.
Hmmm to be honest I really enjoy animal-watching too. I've had dozens of fish tanks from marine to reptiles and I enjoys zoos a lot too.. although i'd rather see animals free and if it was up to me i would set them all free, but it is still quite fascinating to be able to watch and learn these animal's behavior... it can be even more fun than people-watching.
Is there any difference there, tho? Getting our kicks watching animals interact with other animals and with nature compared to humans interacting with other humans and nature.. I think both are pretty awesome.
There used to be this controversial thing called human zoo attractions in major zoos in Germany and Belgium (probably others) in the 1800's, mostly african people with exceptionally differing features from the local population and people would absolutely marvel at them. After a while it was considered racist and inhumane and they got rid of those.
They were not caged up or enslaved... they were paid for living in an enclosure during the day and doing whatever they do...

I think it's actually not an outrageous concept... If I could make a living sitting in an enclosure 8 hours a day for people to look at me and observe my behaviors I would totally do it.. at least for a couple months.. i'm sure thousands of other people would do it too.
I think if someone started human zoos today in a non-racist and non-derogatory way, it would be pretty huge... being able to observe unusual specimens of human... even if they pay them $20/hr for 8 hours, they would stand to make a killing on tickets.
...I wouldn't be surprised if some viewer were aspies. Aspie curiosity is magic!
