I mostly avoid showering because I'm so inefficient at it that it takes too long, and there are always more interesting things to be doing, not to mention I don't enjoy the feeling of being wet, especially wet and cold at the same time when I get out. I refuse to shower first thing in the morning, because it takes my body a while to warm up to sensory triggers, and the noise and feel of a shower first thing puts me into sensory overload before I've even started my day.

I hardly shower, not because I don't like showering though. Usually I actually enjoy showering once I actually do it, because I like to sing, and my singing sounds good when I'm in the shower.
I used to shower like a normal person, but I now realize that was a combination of my parents getting me on a routine of doing it, plus I felt really sticky and gross after work usually and couldn't wait to wash off. But when left to my own devices, usually hygiene falls pretty low on my list of important things to take care of, I am usually focused on something else and don't want to pry away just to shower when I know I don't smell bad anyway; I guess I'm lucky, but I just don't have a lot of problem with smelling bad in general. Some people smell horrible if they go even one day, but me... I went quite a while without showering while at university, a month or maybe more, and none of my roommates said a thing. And I know it wasn't because they were being nice, because my other roommate did the same thing, and they told him he needed to shower.
I'm the same with brushing my teeth, that could be a bigger problem since it could cause cavities. I don't know, it's just hard to make myself do it, when it really doesn't seem all that important compared to other things I am doing. I don't really have problems with my teeth.

omg, you just described me. This is exactly why it's hard for me to take showers.

Unfortunately most people would probably not be so understanding; most people freak out if someone mentions even going a week or even a few days without showering. I don't know the longest time I went without showering, but definitely much longer than just a few days. My last shower was about a week ago, but I don't remember the time before that at all. It could have been well over a month. But nobody says anything, and I don't really feel dirty at all, so I figure I must still be pretty clean.
