I miss the original Littlest Pet Shop animals. They looked more like real animals. I had a chameleon one in a small square "tank" that I was very attached to. The paint on its body was heat sensitive and trend a lighter green when warmed by your fingers.

Oh, I have a bunch of comfort items. :)

They are:

- My stuffed animals and plushies (my favorite ones are the Dorys (a dolphin and a plush of the Finding Nemo character), Babs from Chicken Run, Little Carol the Wild Thing, Rebound the pound puppy, Ickis, Blu, Mater, Truffles the pig, Baby Piglet and Baby Sully, Wilt, my BABW Toothless, Hugmy, Randall Boggs from Monsters Inc, and Petunia, a tiny Beanie Baby rabbit who was sent to me by a friend of mine who's also on the spectrum :) ). I carry at least one or two plushies in my bag or backpack at all times (it's usually the Dorys and Babs)...I just like the company and am reassured that if need be, I can still carve out some time during the day to hide away and hug them while rocking back and forth, and I'm not in my room.

I also have this keychain of Grumpy the dwarf I got at a Fall Festival a couple years ago. He has this fuzzy plush beard I like to stim with. :)

- My Cars blanket - I got it for Christmas of 2008, and I still sleep covered up in it every night. It has a picture of Lightning McQueen and the Piston Cup trophy on it with the words "I Am Speed" above it. :) It's really soft, but I have a favorite "side" of it that I simply call "The Good Side." I sleep with The Good Side making contact with my physical person.

- A vinyl figurine of Judith from Where the Wild Things Are - I got her from my favorite aunt for Christmas a few years ago, and I feel safe with her on a nearby shelf.

- My old-as-the-hills Sansa Fuze MP3 player I've had since 2009....It has all my favorite songs on it, plus some lullabies and the story of The Velveteen Rabbit told by Meryl Streep with George Winston playing piano in the background.

- My plastic/"hard" friends....a tiny doll of Sgt. Calhoun from Wreck-It Ralph (she's the only Sgt. Calhoun doll I could find after seeing the movie) Penny Ling the panda from the Hub's Littlest Pet Shop show, Baby Gonzo from Muppet Babies, and Susie, a die cast blue coupe from the old Disney cartoon I like so much. :) I also have a tiny plastic doll of the woman from Edward Munch's "The Scream" whom I named "Ingrid" as a kid. She used to have a keychain attached, but it broke off.

-My Calico Critters, Miss Important the Fisher Cat, and the meerkat triplets, Peter, Patricia, and Penelope....all four of them were gifts from my therapist who movied away this past summer. :(

- My therapy stones...one small, oblong slab-like brownish-green one, and another one that's clear with a bluish tint and comforms to my "tripod grip." My therapist gave those to me, too. I also have a smooth worry stone and a stone dolphin totem. When I hold them, they keep me from biting and picking at my fingernails and cuticles.

- My Tangle Jr. toys...I love them! Once I get to playing with one of them, I can't put it down. I have a fuzzy one and a hard plastic one.

- A bright green University of Minnesota hoodie my favorite aunt gave me....I've had it for years and it's starting to get holes in it, and my stepmom is embarrassed by it, but who cares - when I wear, I get to pretend it's my aunt giving me a hug. :)

I hardly go anywhere without my iPod and headphones; the headphones are the big over-ear ones and have a built in subwoofer. I like the way it feels with the bass turned all the way up :D

Also, I have a big hoodie that has that fur-type stuff lining the inside. It's synthetic but it's really soft, I've always loved those kinds of hoodies, and hoodies in general. I'd wear them all the time if I could (if it wasn't so flipping hot all the time  )

Anything cinnamon scented- but not citronella cinnamon, it has to be real. My old weighted blanket (I miss it a lot). My ear defenders make me happy and calm me. I have a puppy that projects stars on the cieling and that's my favorite right now. I need more plushies but they're expensive. I'd rather have a weighted blanket again. I have my grandpa's flannel shirt and I wear that a lot, also a GIANT hoodie that I hide in. Anything that's soothing Christmas- it's one of my favorite things.

Oh, yeah----thanks, skibum----I forgot my coloring books----I LOVE those (though, I don't take them with me). I ALWAYS have a crossword puzzle book----I can totally get-through ANYTHING with one of those.

As for scents....

I like pine, lavender, licorice, and vanilla. I've had all of these in scented candles, but the pine one gave me headaches, so I had to get-rid of it. I have lavender-scented incense that I got when I read that lavender would help you get to sleep, and I needed them, and they WORK!! ! The licorice-scented candles were my favorite, but I can't afford them, anymore.

Also, strangely, I LOVE the scent of "Tide" (clothes-washing detergent) (I think it's the "fresh air" one, or "mountain breeze", or something like that, and the "original scent" one). It just makes me so very, very, HAPPY!! !

I don't bring coloring books, but I do have a backpack with me that has my sketchbook, my TMoHS illustration book, my pens and pencils, my chapstick, my iPad & stylus, my game systems (My PS Vita and my 3DS XL), a few other games and I forgot what else it has. On my bag, I have keychains from my anime convention. I have tree Loki keychains, a tardis keychain, a fluttershy, a rainbow dash, an hani-senpai... and others. It also has some pins on it as well.

I carry this bag everywhere I go because it does bring me a lot of comfort. I don't leave the house without it, but I usually only bring it in case the car breaks down or something kind of emergency occurs. I also have my iPhone 5C, which a recent update was made on it. Now my iPhone has a medical alert system. It's almost like a bracelet, but this one allows you to add more info such as your medical conditions, medications you take, emergency contacts (I have my parents' cellphones, my doctor and the mental health clinic I go to as emergency contact) and all that stuff. :3

I do bring a plushie wit my every where I go as well. I know it's childish, but I do it for comfort reasons. I have this tendency to smell my objects and hug them tightly as well. Since I smell them a lot, I spray them with one if my favorite perfume scents. :3

*My coffee mug with a picture of Quinn Morgendorffer from Daria, my favorite character ever (which is weird because she's the opposite of me).

*My Sansa Clipzip mp3 player. I rarely leave the house without it.

*A notebook and pen. I rarely write anything in it; I just like to have it around.

*Suzie, my Smurfette plushie from the Build-a-Bear workshop. I'm not a fan of the Smurfs but she just looked "right" to me when I spotted her two weeks ago. I've also bought clothes for her: jeans, skirts, tops, shoes, a wedding dress, a little bit of everything. I love to dress her up and I hug her at least 10 times a day.

*My other stuffed animal, an old teddy bear named Brian that I've had since I was a kid. Almost every place I've lived or vacationed, he's been there with me.

*And when I go to work, I always carry a bag that has heartburn tablets, pain pills, and Pepto for indigestion (my three main physical symptoms of stress), lip balm, tea bags, an extra charge cord for my mp3 player, and some other stuff.

I wish I could carry Suzie around with me too, but as a 29-year-old man I would get a LOT of weird looks... I do take her to work though, since I have the night shift to myself. She's sitting by the computer right now.

About scents, I agree with Cat that vanilla and lavender are very soothing. My paternal grandparents have these blueberry muffin scented candles that I loved when I last visited; too bad I can't afford them. I also like the smell of gasoline, and a campfire after it's been put out.

Thank you for posting your comfort items- I started to cry because I miss my old backpack. I stopped carrying it because I got made fun of for being 'too old' for a backpack and was made to switch to a purse. This was ten years ago. I hate the purse, mostly. I miss the pressure of the backpack.

I'm going to ask for one and then I can fill it with awesome things again. Thank you for reminding/inspiring me!! !!

I have a comfort item named Susie too! :)

Your Suzie/Smurfette sounds so sweet. :) I bet she loves getting hugged 10 times a day.

^where is that (Susie) from LtlPinkCoupe? :)

my black, slightly water damaged sketchbook stuffed with loose papers, my falling apart, coverless paperblank book with my foldable road map, which has received a 5th sheet today, and of course, pens. my decripit paperblank seems to be my most popular item, it has received many oohs and ahhs and "YOU did this all by yourself?! 8O" from all sorts of people.

they are very convenient to carry around when i feel like drawing, but they are comforting too even when i do not look at them. they're next to me right now as i post this!!

I have a bottle of my emergency meds for anxiety that I carry and just know they're there if I need them. But I always have headphones and books -always. Or sometimes my DS :D

As far as clothing I usually wear a tiger hat <3 Some people around town don't even know my name but they see the hat and they know it's me :P

I found her online...she's the main character from a classic Disney cartoon called "Susie the Little Blue Coupe" that's always been my favorite one since I love anything with anthro vehicles (planes, cars, trucks, etc) in it. :D linky

Here's a picture of a few of my top comfort items:

Image

I adore my scarfy. I bury my face in it and snuggle with it. It's almost like a security blanket. It's old and ratty, but it's very special to me because I've wiped my tears on it. It's also genderless because I couldn't figure out the gender I wanted it to be. XD
