My dad tells me that he had to rock me to sleep all the time, too, and that what really put me to sleep fast was driving me around in the car. Riding in the car was really the only thing guaranteed to work.

Most babies like to be rocked as it's soothing for them. Keeping a baby asleep/not crying can be something of a work out!
