You don't want to take one with a hamster either. My friend's little girl did that when she was in kindergarten. It was her weekend to take the class hamster home and she decided to give him a bath so that she could have him go to bed with her and he died from that. So her dad tried to replace the hamster with an identical looking one so that the other kids would not be upset. Turns out it was some exotic breed of hamster that he could not find anywhere. It was a sad sad day.

I bathe my younger cat in the shower. Just close the shower screen and there's no escape.

It's not exactly weird. I wouldn't do it but that's because I rarely bath the dog, it gets bathed at the groomers and unless it's filthy which is rarely then I don't bath it.

A few questions...

1) How does it even work? Surely once the water has hit you, it just runs down you all dirty and goes down the plug hole? How does the dog even get clean at all?

2) Why would you shower your dog to begin with?! The only time my dog gets washed is when she's done something really digusting, and there's no way I'd share a shower with her then.

It's because they're secretly furries and can't think of anything but sex with an animal when you're naked with one.

Don't worry about them.

I don't see a problem with it. My dog does not bath with me but lately he has been sticking his head in and I have to dry his head off when I get out of the shower.

The only problem I can see with that is, what if you are using shampoo, and when you are rinsing it out, it gets in the dogs eyes or something? Or if it got on its fur? Is human shampoo bad for dogs?

My 3 year old cat likes to walk around the edge of the tub when I am taking a shower and lick up the water droplets that land on the edge.

Nothing wrong, at least you ARE taking a shower. Some people have issues with showers and water and I wish they would shower.

I prefer to wash my dog, a dachsund named Ruby, in my kitchen sink. Makes it a lot easier and I even have a scrub brush that is just for her.

Nothing, provided that you both get clean. Little things like these don't bother me. It doesn't harm anybody.

I see nothing wrong with it - it sounds like fun, as a matter of fact. :D I once read a memoir called "A Friend Like Henry" about a little boy on the autism spectrum whose golden retriever dog (named "Henry" after the Thomas the Tank Engine character) was like a therapy animal and helped him overcome many challenges, and the mother talks about making bath time more fun for her son by allowing Henry in the tub with him - otherwise, the boy would have needed to have all his Thomas trains lined up around the tub to watch him. Kind of like how I used to place my Beanie Babies all around the bathroom while I was having a bath as a kid. xD Anyway, the mother wrote that having the boy and dog bathe together was well worth it, even though the bathroom ended up being a royal mess afterwards.

I don't think I'd be able to interest my mom's dog in a bath with me, though - she just got groomed, and she doesn't like baths normally.

.....This isn't about dogs necessarily, but I also loved the part in the movie "Fly Away Home" where the young girl has a shower with all the little goslings. It was super cute. :)

The dog shouldn't have showers every day. It can make their fur lose oils, making the skin irritated. A dog will only need a shower up to a couple of times a year (unless they tend to get really filthy easily or the specific breed has that sort of grooming requirement). Plus, you might get water in the dog's ear drum , so you really need to be careful with using the showerhead. Dogs also need their own shampoo as human shampoo is very bad for them.

So as long as you are careful and take all of this in mind, I suppose showering with your dog is okay (just as long as the dog is okay with it.

I can imagine it's because dog hair gets all over in the tub and that might gross people out. Just rinse the hair down the drain and you should be good.

I am not here to judge anyone's shower or bath habits, but as for me, I like to bathe in private.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Seems like a time saver. My cat usually sits on the toilet (lid closed of course) and waits for me while I shower. :)
