I also don't really notice that I do it.. It's just something that I do-- for most of them. When I rock however, it feel amazing and I can almost feel the chemical high that I get.

Babies like rocking. Rocking chairs for adults used to be very popular.
They still have them at Cracker Barrel.

No different from breathing, eye blinking, any natural reflex.

Anytime I use a rocking chair, I rock so much that the chair scoots all the way across the room. Then I end up in front of a wall and bang into it. :D It's just easier to set up a pillow against a wall and sit on the floor.

You know! I really can't describe how it feels to be doing it, in and of itself. but I do know what it feels like to do it after being in an environment that requires me to hold it back. it's like taking a piss. I don't think that people really care about what taking a piss(in and of itself) really feels like as more of the pressure relief that come from doing it. If you get where I'm coming from?

It's calming and satisfying and helps me stay in control. I didn't know I stimmed until I started reading about it. Asked about my behavior and then why I do it. It's kind of like breathing, it's not something you are aware of doing until it's brought to your attention.

Like finally managing to get my shoe off and scratch that nasty itch in the middle of the bottom of my foot, or finding the back scratcher and finally managing to scratch that itchy spot in the middle of my back.

Like a long, deep breath after diving under water.

Like sunshine on your shoulder.

How do you put that in words a neurotypical would understand?? I really, really don't know. I explained it to my husband as, "Finally getting to sit down and play your video game" or "Finally getting laid. Not the orgasm-- just finally getting laid and having the biologic drive to stick it in something go away."

It's like... well, a lot of people have already said what I have. I guess it's like having a weight taken off your shoulders. When I wring my hands at my sides or squeal/make noises, it's like someone took all the weight off me. I feel as if I have freedom from the stress inside my mind, even if it's due to excitement for no real reason.

When I'm happy, I usually stim... My most common one is probably rocking back and forth. I've also grown out of some stims, such as flapping my hands.

It doesn't feel like anything, it just happens.

Many times I don't realize I am doing it, other times it feels like I am flyyying on top of the world wonderful sensation, other times it feels like huge relief, other times like a bolt of energy striking me. I think that's because there are different stims for different times, some unconscious stims (like moving objects with hands), some stims for when I am happy (like moving fingers), others for when I am tired/anxious (like rubbing my forehead), others for when I am completely excited (like repeating lalalala - or other sound - really fast). There's a bit of an specialization.

It feels really pleasant. I get a sensation inside my head that is hard to describe. Sometimes it will travel to my chest or belly.

My thoughts are often racing a million miles per hour when I am stimming.
The way in which I stim varies according to the triggers (anxiety, sensory, obsessions, excitability...).
Sometimes I am very aware of it but feel out of control.
