Kraftiekortie, I saw a few episodes because my brother was into it.

I'm selectively handy. I'm better as a helper. I have physical limitations, but I like the smell of lumber. :)

Have any of you actually seen the TV show MacGyver? I was on from the late 70's to the early 90's, I believe. I know it started in the late 70s.

I am sure I was watching it around 2000 in Polish TV. It was airing about 10-11 AM when I was in late elementary school and my class had the 2nd shift in school(too many kids, not enough classrooms). I was watching it before leaving home. I remember I was often leaving angry since I had no time to watch an episode till the end.

I can be quite handy. However, I'd rather let someone else do it.

Oh yeah. We were all fans of the show in my family when it first aired in that Eighties era.

My mom did alot of lite carpentry. I can barely hold a hammer. My folksare house people, but not car people though. Can use a self serve gas pump! Oh..I can also change a car battery. But thats about it.

the only thing I know how to "fix" or at least ameliorate, is a certain type of defect-ridden audio.

I can do basic things....very basic things...like screwing in things.

Forget about more complicated "DIY" type of things.

I can't build something bought from IKEA (that's supposed to be easy). I hate even the mention of IKEA--it sags my ego!

I can cook okay.

I can change tires--but I have to be careful not to screw up the undercarriage of the car.

Once, I had to change two tires on a busy highway! Both back tires blew up, and spun my car around. Fortunately, I was able to push it somewhere where I was not in imminent danger. I screwed up the undercarriage of the car, though.

I could probably make basic car repairs, should I be in a position where I must do so.

I am moderately handy.

I can change a tire and do other basic mechanical stuff like replace a lawnmower fan or blade. I learned some carpentry and helped build stands for a theater out of 2 X 4s and plywood. I helped to build a ski-trail bridge in vermont. I can repair basic electronics with a soldering iron.

My mind can do way more than my hands though. I wish I could do joinery, but I never got that good working with wood. I can only go so far with electronics before I get frustrated because I can't hold the whole circuit or system in my mind at once and end up feeling like I am just following recipes and not really understanding the thing. The usually work when I throw the on switch though.

I can fix a lot of household stuff and rewire sockets for grounded plugs...

But my shoelaces always come undone if I don't double knot and sometimes even then.

If we're talking about being car and cooking handy. I can change a break pad, and I'm pretty good at cooking.
