I don't think in images. I think in words. It's like hearing a conversation in your "mind's ear," like remembering something that somebody said. Sometimes (like when I am studying vocabulary or trying to remember how to spell something), I just see words on a vague, dark background. Sometimes, I will hear a word, and a song with that word in it will pop into my mind.
