Just have to ad to my earlier post....there are far too many good songs and albums out there to spend too much time listening to just one song.

From my perspective some songs are too special not to listen to dozens, if not hundreds, if not thousands of times.

Not 'weird' enough. XD

And listening to only one music isn't even weird enough for NTs to call it weird.
Unless you replace 'music' with a 'single TV show episode'...

I could watch every episode of "Barney Miller" an infinite amount of times.

Finding comfort in repetition is an autism trait far as I know.

It certainly can be an Aspie/Autism trait. But not necessarily. Even the DSM V criteria for levels 1 to 3 all list repetitious behavior as one of the criteria.

My understanding from what I read is that people on the Spectrum tend to react with anxiety toward change and unpredictability. Repetition at least temporarily creates a short period of predictability and changelessness. I used to do that all the time myself when I was a bit younger. It would drive my family or roommates nuts. Now that I am living on my own - I like to watch the same videos over and over and over and over and over again.

It is not harmful at all. Repetition for someone on the Spectrum is a very good self-soothing mechanism.

It is for me.

I like to watch the same video before I go to sleep--one which depicts a Beat Club episode from March of 1967. Jimi Hendrix played two songs, and the Who played three songs. The Smoke sang a song about taking LSD (blatantly!). And a couple of pretty decent soul groups to boot.

I completely agree. My song that I listen to repeatedly is Celine Dion's "L'abandon".. I can't speak French, but that's not why I listen to it. The beat.. the flow.. the tempo.. it all is very calming and repetitve. (Btw, I have almost all A's in school and would much rather listen to music all day). You're not weird at all- at least in our circles, you're not.

It is harmful if it interferes with other important things in your life.

OCD Obsessions are unwelcome while Autistic Special Interests are about topics you love.

I've played the same song 2,000 times in the past year according to iTunes. Which is about 1,500 more than the next closest. It's perfectly fine, never judge yourself for it or anything similar.
