intuition and gut instincts

Not true. They are the accumulation and subconsciious processing of facts. In the case of the bar shutting down, I recieved the same hints and clues as everyone else, but they let emotion and sincere belief override those. Blinded by emotion.

Intuitition, Instinct...

are just knowledge put into practise....

You drive a car,,, you go to a big oval, and put the car out of control on purpose, doing doghnuts and skids and a little bit of sideways action,,, from this you learn the principle of counter steering...

When in an accident , you instinctively counter steer whne you back wheels start to wander off in a direction.

..It's the same with cooking, the first batch was raw, the second burnt, with practise you will be able to instinctively tell whether or not it's done to your liking without even looking at it.

How would you explain the time I put down my pen, left the office, took a cab to the hospital - without knowing why. When I got there Mom wasn't in her bed. I found her in the basement, unable to move her wheel chair and half-frozen.

There is something beyond human comprehension that would have you beleive in God or similar....

...but that's not Instinct - that's a feeling.

In other words the language / definition is a bit muddled....... You felt that you should get in the car ,,, not : It was your instinct to get in the car.

Sort of, but not quite. Intuition is not the same as instinct. Intuition is not God, or esp, or spooky. Everybody has intuition. It's like seeing or smelling - no more exotic than that - a way of bringing knowledge to the brain, which then reacts. For some, thinking (logic) is strongest, or maybe the 5 senses, or feeling. My strongest is intuition.

Re that particular experience, I felt nothing. I acted without thought or feeling - it felt blank. Even so - where would that feeling come from, if it was a feeling?

Feeling and intuition are hard to define - are we talking about the same thing?

Intuition is the same word as instinct... it's just that Intuition is used where 'YOU' are in control of the thought.... instinct is considered the reflex action.

Yes you will see sentences like ... I instinctively knew his hair was brown judging by th hair on his legs,, and yes the same sentence,,, My intuition told me his hair was brown judging by the colour of the hair on his legs.

--See where the word Intuition is used you need to add more facts - because you are in control of the thought.

-So in the case of cooking the facts are, burning smell, colour etc - you intuitiely know when it should be good.

-But for instinctvly - you make the relfex action of catching your baby, before she walks off the ledge. (Becase you saw movement in the corner of your eye and automatically asumed it was your baby because you last saw her near the ledge.)

One is information ingrained.
The other is information strung together as a logical assumption.

-but your father - that's Godly.

if intuition is just like seeing or smelling then it goes to figure that NOT everyone has it. because not everyone can see, and not everyone can smell.

One thing I feel I definitely am not is intuitive. I work with facts and logic to make my decisions. The closest thing I know to intuition in my life is figuring out where a certain book might be in the library if it isn't in the regular section of the library. I think that is more due to deduction than intuition.

I overanalyze too much to rely on intuition. And when I do, it usually ends up being wrong.
