No, krafitkortie isn't either on the list of banned IPs or usernames.

That would have really spooked me!

Have you forwarded the message to one or more moderators, so they can look into whether the messages come from a person spamming versus a system glitch?

Hi Booyokasha,

It was B19 who got the error message.

I've gotten similar error messages--wherein I was "blocked" from WP. This doesn't happen too often--but it happens at inopportune times.

Thanks for looking out for me, anyway :D

I'm looking forward to Christmas. The only thing that's bothering me is sickness and diarrhoea epidemics at the old people's home, where I work as a cleaner. Last Christmas, it was terrible. Nearly all the residents were dropping like flies with this severe vomiting and diarrhoea bug, the home had to be closed to all visitors, we had to all take extra precautions, and we had a lot of deaths of residents afterwards, which was very sad. Also it was right smack-bang on Christmas week, and I had to work on Christmas day and we were going to all have a little party and some food with the residents at lunch time, but it wasn't so good because half the residents were ill with this vomiting thing and we had to go around making sure everywhere was clean. It was awful. Also I have severe emetophobia, and I cannot stand being sick, or having diarrhoea. I was so afraid to catch it, even though I made sure I washed my hands thoroughly and wore a mask. But it was still very unsettling, and I didn't eat for about two weeks over Christmas because in my mind I kept thinking I had caught the vomiting thing, even though my stomach was physically hungry.

And just today, the start of the Christmas week, there has been 2-4 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting at work. I was really looking forward to Christmas this year, assuming there won't be another vomiting affair again on this precise week, but now there is. So Christmas is ruined yet again.

The best Christmas I ever had was when I was in my early 20's. I was completely alone, I had no tv, no money and no friends or family.

It snowed that day and it actually brought a tear of joy to my eye as I listened to some battered old radio and ate corned beef on toast.

I was in heaven.

I am still having problems. The system made me log in this morning, (ok) then I tried to post and was sent back to log in, so I logged in again, and here I am.. thanks to you KK and you Eloa for letting the mods know.

The banned message didn't come in an email, it came up on its own message box when I clicked on a "visit topic" email. It also had a tab for "contact administrator" which I clicked and nothing happened. So I couldn't contact the admin.

So if you have the same experiences, yes, it is a glitch of some kind, and not a very nice one to experience - nearly ruined my Christmas, and no access to immediate support from my WP friends! It's years since I have been falsely accused of something, (as I guess we all have been, at some time in our lives), and the last time I was, it was a particularly nasty set-up, not a misunderstanding situation. It ended up in court, (where I took it) as an employment issue. Despite the case being decided, rightly!!, in my favour, it left its mark on me, as those kinds of betrayals do; I noticed how the glitch last night brought some of those feelings rushing back - the unfairness of it, the hurt, the sense of living in an unsafe world where you can't always see a personal attack coming. Interesting how these things can still trigger us years later...

I am very glad to be here this morning! Don't want to derail this thread too much on glitches however say your piece too if this has happened and you want to discuss it, and then we can move back to support issues over the Christmas period and coping with the seasonal pressures...

If anyone reading this is going to be alone on Christmas Day, and that is not OK for you, post your area on the thread - there may be other members in your area who are in the same situation who can suggest or plan some options via PM's.

Bring on the time travel!

For some reason, you brought a memory of mine to mind. I was in Surrey (UK) and got lost in the snow on Christmas Eve in quite a remote area. Eventually I found a local family and asked them if they could get me a taxi back to my hotel in Colchester. Instead, they invited me to stay the night (in some luxury) and share Christmas dinner with them - which I did. It was the nicest Christmas I ever had, the one spent with strangers..

Rural people tend to be accommodating like that.

It's almost as if they realize that THEY could be in the same situation.

However, it is still something to appreciate, rather than take for granted.

I went off the road one year in an icey storm in the middle of the countryside with no cell phone. A couple driving by helped me out by taking me to their house to call for roadside assistance. People can be generous.

But regarding Christmas stress, my computer has fallen prey to a malicious virus and has succomb. I have ordered an iPad mini 2, which is free with my existing phone plan, but there is no way it will get here before next week. Perhaps without tv or a computer I will find the true spirit of Christmas, but I somewhat doubt it. But in the meantime at least I have my iPhone. Still I can't help but feel I am being tested.
