What a nice way to describe a curmudgeonly iconoclast! Hahaha. Thanks!

Yes, it's classic Kraftie: nice, but genuine and true--and based in careful observation.

Winston Churchill was curmudgeonly--yet, very effective.

Oh no! Forgot about Egghead!

Egghead is the sage who is able to outwit the Foghorn Leghorns of the world, while still being a nice guy.

He makes me wonder what would have happened had Adlai Stevenson been elected president, instead of Dwight Eisenhower (though Eisenhower turned out not to be bad--and he criticized the military-industrial complex at the end of his term).

Thanks, Kiprobalhato!

A member sent me the link to this new avatar--I saw how much better it was than the old one--so I went with it!

Kiprobalhato is so good with languages that he should have invented Esperanto--It would have been a richer language under his tutelage. And it would have been comprehensible--unlike that mishmash which is James Joyces' "Finnegan's Wake."

I'm sitting down, sipping the cherry grenadine which Catrin was nice enough to make for me! You could join me; it's a drink for any age.

Have you ever studied historical linguistics, Kiprobalhato? I'm sure you wouldn't be Grimm at it!

Who said New Yorkers are mean?

ASPartOfMe made it his business to research ASDs and society's perception of them--to the point where he's a consummate advocate at this point.

He also always presents himself in a virtuous and even-keeled manner, while letting people know that he has strong opinions on things.

Awwww Geee
Let me try this
"kraftiekortie" despite a life of being an Autistic and a New Yorker still manages to look at the bright side of life. He is an expert at knowing when and how to defuse tense situations that evolve on Wrong Planet. He has a knack of using quips to get his strong opinions across. Many of the opinions are "thinking out of the box" in a true autistic manner.

Kraftie. You're far too kind. :D

Best wishes for Merry Christmas. Look forward to your continuing wisdom here on WP in 2015.

Take care.

Kraftie, you are a great guy and it's good to keep seeing your compassionate and thoughtful mind at work here.
The little details you recall about many people here are astounding.

(will this thread be used at some future time as evidence of "cliques" on WP???)

No, I would probably put this one into the "mutual back-slapping" category <_<.

Threads like this really aren't my style. It's all suitably huggy-wuggy and "nice". If that's what rocks your boat then fair enough, I suppose. Me, it's like a foreign language to me: obviously missed the memo as a child which said that female aspies are great at copying/mimicking other people.

Anyway kraftie's a cool guy by me. LOL! :D   :D

Guys, tell me if I've done this right. Too many emoticons? Too few? Should I add another LOL!? Am I happy enough? Nice enough? I'm clearly striving for a certain tone here, but don't know if
I have achieved the right blend of likeability and blandness.

LOL!

There, added it for ya.

TBH I think you should've added a couple 'm8' here and there, as that seems to be your go to friendly word. Hearts don't really seem to be your thing, nor wide smiley faces.

yay thanks for that - would surely join you for a couple of refreshments!

and i've read some bits here and there about the history of languages of course, but i'm currently working on creating my own conlangs, constructed fictional languages.
i've devised two extensive writing systems but currently trying to wrap my head around some tenets of morphology and syntax, namely when/how to use case, head-marking, etc.

making antiquated versions of them also to go with the modern tongues, where historical linguistics would certainly help my understanding.
