I don't know how to even start, because I have no prior knowledge. What do I even practice? I just don't know what to do. For some things, my hands just won't do it even if I know technically WHAT to do, I just can't figure out how to go about doing it.
My son has a hard time copying other people's movements. When he was younger, he took Tae Kwon Do and what worked best was when the Master physically guided his body through the movement. Once he "felt" what he was supposed to do, then he could "understand" what to do. Do you think your friend would be able to do that with you on some of the tasks you are concerned about? I mean this very literally...she/he would take your hands in their hands and guide your hands in the motion necessary to accomplish the task. I am thinking about things like buttering bread, cutting bread, etc.
For things like microwaving food, my son uses a very easy rule of thumb. If he does not know how long to cook something and it is frozen, he puts it in for a minute and then checks and goes by 30 second increments. If something is not frozen, he goes by 30 minute increments. Usually, once he has cooked something a time or two, he can guestimate how long it will take because he has done it a few times.
