thanks for the recommendations, I think I will try all the 'big names' and go from there.

I have just ordered 'Been There, Done That. Try This! - an aspic's guide to life on earth' by Tony Attwood et al that came out last year

It has sections by many of the people mentioned and as it claims to be a guide rather than description i'm hoping it will be more helpful than the more descriptive things I have read

I person really like "Been There, Done That Try Thisz'. Craig Evans, who co-authored the book, ran the AutismHangout channel on Youtube. It still exists, and the recordings of the 'Ask Dr. Tony series' are featured there. They are really useful and handy!

There are some good books by Peter Vermeulen, a Belgian autority on autism.
