Until 5 years I have had classic autistic traits, but I didn't get a formal diagnosis: I rejected other children, I was attracted of broken glass, I dinn't feel so much pain when I got hurt, I rejected the food due to lack of taste and dislike of texture, I had terrible tantrums with autoagression, I was a pronoun reverser and I was generally hyperactive. But now I'm more adapted. This seems due to the declarative memory. I only get a 8 month psychotherapy, when I was 10. I learned consciously the social rules along the time, and this helps me especially to my job.

That totally makes sense to me, I definitely go through a flowchart in my head when dealing with other people. Also, I also "verbally mediate tasks," although I have learned to do it softly when others are around, or just mouth it without sound.

I didn't realize I did this out-loud until my wife pointed it out (or rather got a good chuckle out of it), but sometimes I hum the "chorus" to the A-Team theme song when I solve a problem, though I often hear it "in my head".
