You're right! it will be nice to meet people with EQ as well as people with common sense, thinking about it, sometimes a lot of people will have all these degrees under their belt and yet when it comes down to common sense, theirs none.

I'm glad to hear that the whole I.Q thing doesn't apply to all aspies. I know quite a bit about autism but when it comes to aspergers, not as much.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Just go to the PPR forums and you'll find alot of below average IQ Aspies.

I think that forum is probably representative of average IQ.

the whole 'average or above average IQ' thing has always seemed a bit circular to me, if having an IQ over 70 is a requirement of being AS then it seems obvious that people with AS as a group have higher IQ on average than the general population.

The problem with some of the people on the PPR is not intelligence. Some are quite intelligent.

It's their inflexibility and desire to gain the edge on another person.

Nope. Another stereotype and/or misconception.

Thanks everyone for clearing that up
didn't realise it was a misconception, still learning and discovering more about AS as it's all new to me, only had previous knowledge of Autism. I'd guess previous if experts only relied on IQ tests, many people would've gone undiagnosed with AS but thankfully now theirs more tests and knowledge out their for the disability.
